Realized I can't afford a car with the UK's s**tty insurance prices, at least for now, but I still need transport and something I can modify on a budget so I got a scooter, because I can. It's a 2008 Aprilia SR50 and I have some cool plans for it. Photos first
(IMG:http://i46.tinypic.com/256zccm.jpg) (IMG:http://i46.tinypic.com/vcz0oh.jpg) (IMG:http://i45.tinypic.com/dzdxu0.jpg) (IMG:http://i50.tinypic.com/m839f6.jpg) (IMG:http://i47.tinypic.com/2vtw3td.jpg) (IMG:http://i46.tinypic.com/kd7cqd.jpg) My plans are, aesthetically - Second set of panels, paint them black with dark metallic purple parts - Purple wheels - Yasuni Carbon Exhaust - Handlebar conversion - Tail tidy - Small numberplate - Smoked lights - Better headlight bulbs - All black seat - And then some other details like nicer brake levels, a nicer stand etc. Engine wise I'm still undecided. I'd love a Yasuni Carbon exhaust like I said just but I'll see about money first, won't be for a couple of months anyway. I'd like a 70cc kit at some point but I want to keep it reliable, depends what company I choose. But if I can get 65-70mph out of this when I'm done I'll be happy. I started the tail tidy tonight, here's the before picture (IMG:http://i48.tinypic.com/2h2qepz.jpg) I've removed the grab handles and also the numberplate bracket. So here's how it is right now (IMG:http://i48.tinypic.com/v651j9.jpg) (IMG:http://i45.tinypic.com/6jd2mo.jpg) I'm going to try and find a transmission casing mounted numberplate bracket, this is how I want the numberplate to sit (IMG:http://i45.tinypic.com/nv4cr7.jpg) So there we go In before 'lower it' fags who think they're funny and also in before the 'lower it' fags who think they're funny because I said it's not funny to say it in the first place and they're doing it to be a trollololollooolol This post has been edited by Ben.H: Sep 4 2012, 03:44 AM |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/toothygrin.gif) Same colours as my mums RS125. About the plate bracket you'd be best off making it yourself. I really doubt you'd find the parts.

I know you can buy a bracket for these engines that'll cost around £30-40. But the plate mounts behind the rear wheel, I wonder if I could get that and modify it. In any case, I'd rather pay £30 or so for a professionally made part rather than something I did myself. But who knows, I could change my mind soon

Is it wise to have the plate hanging off the side like that? I mean it could get caught on stuff to your side if you going close or something.
Cool scooter btw |

It should be fine, it doesn't stick out much further than the transmission case anyway, plus I'll be looking at buying a smaller numberplate at some point soon too. Thanks man

Every time I see the SR50 part of the name I want to think of Nissan. Its cool looking. I wouldn't be embarrassed to ride one.

lol thanks dude, the plan after this one is perhaps a Yamaha DT125 or a Honda XR125. The license I'm getting, a CBT, basically it's the learner license in the UK, really easy to get and you can ride any bike up to a 125cc. But that's the future and right now is right now and in right now I have an SR50 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toung.gif)

A vertical plate would be cool but you wouldn't last 10 minutes here with that, police in the UK, at least some, are right miserable bastards when it comes to numberplates, the plates have to be a certain size, the letters have to also be a certain size and a certain distance from the edges of the plate. I'll already be running the risk of a fine when I get a small plate, but a vertical plate's a bit hot, I won't last long at all

my dad has a plate with little letters, so it's smaller, but not stupidly so. He's only ever been pulled up once for it and even then he got away with it.

yeah, it depends on how sound the copper is that pulls you over, and how his/her mood is lol, I can't imagine the small plate I'm looking at would annoy many officers that much, but a vertical one is just asking to be pulled and fined

You would seem to think that the ones who manufacture the plates would follow the regulations on dimension and letter size. |
