The 3sgte seems like a bit of a black sheep when it comes to popularity amongst tuners (I could be wrong), and it seems like a strong little engine to me.
So what's your opinion on the engine? Why do you feel that way? how hard is it to swap it into an aw11 mr2? 3D17: sorry I died and never said hai guys... In actuality I died twice. This post has been edited by ThirtyTwo.: Nov 12 2014, 02:05 AM |

1. I just googled it because I never heard of it. Seems very strong, but there also seems to be many versions.
2. The powerrrrrrrr figures. 3. I don't know. Probably easy. |

It depends on what generation 3s you get.
Only later generation 3S are worth any money They are heavy too The BEAMS 3SGTE is a very powerful engine and a common swap into 86s Swapping a 3S into an AW11 would be tricky but possible. The wiring harness would be a real headache You can buy motor mounts for the 3SGTE but I'm pretty positive you'd have to do some subframe modification If you go with a 3sgte swap go ahead and spend big bucks and make it a BEAMS 3SGTE. |

So is there an engine whose engine mounts match 4age? (I'm drunk atm so that might not make sense)

conversion engine mounts? yea but that's for your engine only. Drive shafts and everything have to be machined to fit I'm pretty sure

yes there are kits but I don't know if anyone still sells them
the engine bay will be cramped you would need to relocate the battery and figure out what you're going to do about the intercooler you may also have to drop your fuel tank too and get a walbro pump instead. I think you have to get axles for transmission but I've heard the V6 Camry axles make a great substitution and it's all bolt on |

It's a Toyota engine so yes it's good, but as Kevin said only worth it if you get the BEAMS and it's pretty heavy
Also personally I'd swap a smaller lighter engine into the AW11, like a redtop/silvertop/blacktop 4age/4agze, in my opinion that would fit the whole car better in every sense. |

Yeah, the only reason I shy away from 4age is its hard to extract power from. But aw11 does have it standard. 16v is cool though.

you can make plenty of power with a 4age. Remember the AW11 is a fairly light car so it's not hard to make it a racekurrrrr

how much do you know about the 4AGE because you can get plenty of power with a turbo setup
Also if you want get power through the RPMS go with a 7A bottom end and ITBS It's what I may end up doing for my 86 |
