hai gais
Story is Dad was talking to this old guy and said somthing about selling his mums house and car, Dad perked up his ears and asked him about it, turned out to be a 1973 Hillman hunter that his mum owned from near new. went around and had a look a week ago was in good nik then came back a week later to pick it up. On we went home and the bloody thing overheated. Twice. Took us an hour and a half to get home when it usually takes 15mins at most from where we got it from. so yee dad and i picked up some radiator s**t yesterday and him and the neighbour spent today flushing it and stuff. When taking the thermostat gasket thing ma jiggy the screw broke. lucky next door neighbour is into Hillman and has a s**tload of spear parts laying around We bolted it all up again then it started leaking thru the crappy cardboard gasket thingy we made lelelelel so we un bolted it again then hooned off to repco in the blue bessie to get a new gasket because the old one was squished to s**t. thats what happened today, more funs going to happen tomorrow lelelelelel Heres Billy and all his 40 yr old glory: (IMG:https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/521497_563115883700868_2095640077_n.jpg) (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/uqljK3u.jpg) (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/qpMHK2Y.jpg) (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/AJr1sYb.jpg) Well, not really a build thread as such but dad said i can put stickers on the rear window/put fuzzy dice in it ye buddy. |

So today we sanded the thermostat majiggys so that there would be no gunk and the gasket sits flat on it. We fitted it all up, put some gasket concrete stuff in between the gasket and the thingy majoos so it wouldnt leak.
(IMG:http://i.imgur.com/bLRJf9F.jpg) ^the culprate (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/afU6IaY.jpg) ^All cemented and not leaking (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/M91mN1t.jpg) ^running, lol you can see the radiator fluid moving heheehehe I got the cool job though, i got to clean the air intake (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/UxIDPbL.jpg) ^i already cleaned the main shell in this pic, didnt thing of before and after pics at that point lel (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/17mA21X.jpg) ^nice and clean shaft (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/g9lMYSv.jpg) ^cleaned the lid, and the filter is dirty as hell so it will be getting changed for nice K&N one lee (IMG:http://i.imgur.com/DTWwFuY.jpg) ^all bolted back up, nice and clean (cleanest thing in the engine bay yo) you can see how dirty it was in first post ye budy, so Billy isnt getting hot now, and we twisted the intake around so its point outwards not towards the exhaust like it was haha EDIT: the shaft still looks dirty but o wel This post has been edited by Madset.: Feb 19 2013, 03:44 AM |

Chrysler? Hillman was part of the Rootes group, a british company. As well as Hillman, they had Singer, Talbot, Sunbeam, Commer and Humber. I always wanted a Hillman Imp/Singer Chamois. Ace little competitor to the mini
Edit nvm, they were badge engineered under a crapload of other marques as well. Fun fact, most of them were assembled a few miles from where I live |
