atm i dont really care if i paint the trims or let the air out my fricking tyres im sick of driving at the limit cause of my insurance and i would love to have a project car as this has to stay stock, mechanical wise, no matter what it is. its a massive kick in the teeth. What insurance company are you with mate? Co-Op (not the young drivers tracker bull, but the normal company) is brilliant for drivers of our age..

sand down the steelies, paint 'em white and when you can afford the insurance, throw the car to the floor.

@ shafz - i got the co-op tracker one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) my mums the main driver and im a named. im paying for it each month so its costing me £57 a month. which for a first car 17 year old is pretty good. my mate at college has a 1.6 old BMW 3 series (i think) and hes paying £160
@ i wish i could but the car has to stay stock..... UPDATE!!!!! my car is modding itself! you hear/see correctly!! i've just got back from work and the closer to home i got the louder my exhaust got. im pretty sure i have a hole just before the CAT. well put it this way sounds like i got straight pipes and im driving at the limit and sensibly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/xd.gif) its awesome.... just hope i dont get pulled for it being to loud, as i cant afford to get it fixed and i need it wednesday to go to college. So you're about 80 miles from me, I'm Northampton, or if you're like most of the UK and don't know where that is, about 20 miles South of Milton Keynes.
If you find a half-way spot, I'll gladly come down and give you a hand playing with it in a manor that doesn't affect your insurance |

its not so much i dont want to tell the insurance. the proper reason why im not allowed to is its my mums car, she's allowing me to use it to get to college and work. she's said multiple times that i cant modify it in any mechanical way. but i can put stickers on it. paint the wheels as im doing... does that make sense? another reason is, my sister who's 15 i think, is having the car after me.
thanks so much for the offer though im very grateful |

I'm only 18 and I'm paying £1953 a year on a Starlet 1.3 16valve N/A.. so around £162 a month.. Named driver, on Co-Op without tracker.. so 160 for your mates BMW is really good.. tbh my insurance was actually cheaper at 17 (£1720 a year), but the bastard increase in insurance prices means its gone up to £1953..
But I do live in a F rated postcode area in London, whereas your areas a fair bit safer than mine probably.. Hope you get it sorted, theres little mods you can do if you wanna keep your insurance legit, PM me for my MSN or blackberry messenger (if you have it) and I'll help out.. Shafz. About your exhaust, if it happened over time its not a hole. I'd say something shook loose.

i found out what caused the exhaust problem.
my lambda sensor no longer wanted to be apart of my exhaust so he broke free... (IMG:http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/315584_1840165183632_1825646038_1218908_1323275758_n.jpg) soooo yea, a nice big whole. its fixed now, went to one garage got a quote for £350 for whole new exhaust and a new lambda sensor. then i went to the place where i used to work and welded the sensor back in place (IMG:style_emoticons/default/xd.gif) . the sensor was just hanging there. on the up side my car sounded cool for a while and even my mum thought it did lol. shame its put right now really (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

i was planning on doing some mods but when phoned the insurance company up about it they said im not allowed any mods on the car as it would make my insurance invaild not cool...
so no lowering (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) i have made a hole in my exhaust and it now pops i finally got a youtube account again so i'll get a mate to film it tomorrow and then get it up and post a link somewhere |
