Okay, here's a list of modifications me and my dad discussed and that we'd like to do. In no particular order - New headunit with iPod compatibility Keep an eye out at Aldi, My headunit was £30 from there - New speakers Measure the door speakers you have, and pinch some from an executive car at a scrappers - Subwoofer, nothing OTT, just something that give us some moderate bass and doesn't take up too much room or looks s**t Same again, but you will need an amp to power it - New numberplates in different sizes I'm sure you could get a cheap set of 'show' plates online, just make sure you - Remove the 'Accord' and 'Sport' badges First thing to do on your list, boil a kettle, get something thin, strong, but not sharp, and ease them away. Tar remover will see off all the gunk - New wheels/tyres I've got no advice here, just see what you can get from another higher model - Lowering If you're gonna lower it, don't f**k about with cheapskate stuff here, get genuine stuff, doesn't have to be expensive, just no cutting springs or anything silly like that - Laguna splitter, or an OEM front bumper with foglights and a lip, if such exists just hit up the 'bay - Wind deflectors these will probably be quite expensive on account of their rarity, so be careful - Minor stickerage bombing is always fun, just grab yourself a stickerbomb book from amazon or ebay - Spinners the f**k. - New exhaust, something that makes a nicer noise but isn't tacky or anything, nothing to in your face as a general rule, cat-backs will provide a better noise than if you just buy a back-box/tailpipe combo, but is naturally more expensive - Paint cam cover, not sure what colour, not red though, don't want anyone to think we're trying to make it like a Type-R, because it isn't, performance wise anyway just look for other details in the bay, and colour code accordingly - New seats, either the Type-R Recaros, Executive leather seats or maybe aftermarket ones just ebay something from a higher model, see how easy it is to switch runners to a different car to really open up the options - New steering wheel, something swag like Nardi if my dad's feeling to splash out a bit just leave it, if you must, look for a nicer wheel from a newer honda, at least you can keep the airbag - Shark fin aerial make sure its a genuine one and not one of those s**tty door hangers off ebay - Godfather or dixie horn demontweeks has everything you need for that Along with repairing all the damage, there's some stuff that needs sorting, interior light isn't working for instance This is what we want to do anyway, of course it's all down to money really |

Curtis, I've already got links sorted for most of the stuff (IMG:style_emoticons/default/xd.gif) That being said I appreciate the info. Think we'll be saving up for lowering and wheels next, found these springs, this was after I saw an advert in a magazine, I'll be searching properly for a good compromise between quality and value tomorrow, 35mm drop is enough. As far as wheels go, we'll be after 17" wheels, 9" inch wide on the rear and 8.5" up front, the fitment is 4x114.3 so if anyone knows any sweet wheels that aren't ridiculously expensive let us know, we'll have plenty of time before we can actually afford both (That said I'll be in a job soon, hopefully, so that'll speed things up a little bit). As far as modifications we'll go from the most expensive to the cheapest, so after lowering and wheels we'll fix the bodywork, then probably ICE, after that it'll just be smaller things like the splitter, aerial and all of that
That said some modifications are incredibly cheap so we might do the properly cheap ones now and get 'em out the way, like the debadging, we did that earlier, removed the rear Accord and Sport badge, still got some of that s**t left from the Sport badge though. Might see about getting the camshaft cover painted also I'm gonna check out some Honda forums and such, hopefully I can pick the brains of other Honda owners and see what's what. It'd be cool if we could get this car on display at Japfest next year Edit: Dat front bumper/fog light assembly/door mirrors/grille (IMG:http://flatounet.net/Images/Voitures/Honda/Accord%20Type-R%20-%2001.jpg) This post has been edited by Ben.H: Sep 24 2011, 09:19 PM |

These guys usually have really good prices. Not sure if they do international shipping though. Also, your talking about lowering your car and super wide wheels but have not mentioned anything about offset. You sure these are going to fit properly? |

Well if you don't want your fender to shred your tire like a cheese grater or end up with wheels that don't fit cuz they are hitting the inside of your fender... then you should look into it. Your safest bet would be to find a pic of an accord that's lowered as much as you will be with wheels that you think fit perfect and then find out the wheel specs and if any extra modification was needed. If you can't find any information, I can help you out if you measure some clearances of the stock wheels for me. I can let you know what will fit, what will poke, and so on. I measured mine out and I think I did a pretty good job of getting them flush:

I do believe we'll be buying a brand new set specifically in Honda Accord fitment, so I presume the offset will be right, otherwise heads will roll

i've seen people comfortably fit 11's under a golf before. older cars tend to have a bit more clearance than is absolutely necessary

who cares if rota makes replica wheels?
They just get a bad rep because a few have broken under extraneous conditions. (IMG:http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/5112/img0192hr3.jpg) That didn't just break driving down a road. He took a corner too fast, overcorrected, went sideways and hit a curb. His car ended up on top of the curb. The wheel broke, yes, but his brake rotor also broke into two pieces. You can't tell me that "real" rims would have stood up to that abuse. They would have been just as screwed up as the rota wheel. They're fine for anyone with a daily driven car that sees respectable street use. |
