That actually reminds me of an idea I had back in middle school.
If the wheels were shaped and angled like that, only one half of the tread would wear out at a time, right? Then if they only made them able to mount facing either way, the left tires could be moved to the right and vice-versa, leaving the unworn tread on the ground and the worn out stuff up in the air.
