Hello all, to all hello smile2.gif

i wanna know what you guys think of air ride and static drops,

Air Ride
I think its perfect for every day driving and then the stanced cruising and for shows but loads of people say air ride is for p***ys

Static
yea its cool to have a static drop its cheaper and looks awesome, but its not practical at least no where i live with the rubbish roads, yet people still use it.

thats my opinion on both, and i think when i get the chance i'll be going for air ride just seems more sensible.

anywho over to you guys to post your opinions on both of just one.

many thanks
big trick daddy andy
air is fo pussies
smart pussies that take care of their ride
Unox.
bags are for groceries

honestly i prefer static, there should be a "Sucks to Roll Hard" Declaration anyone wanting to get a static drop must sign;

"-I will take 'JDM angles' upon approaching any speedbump or driveway
-I will shout 'YEEAAAH' upon any bottom-out resulting in sparks going over 40mph
-I understand that oilpans are merely an inconvenience
-I will treat each lane marker as a target
-I will Stay Classy at all times, failure to do so results in being known as a 'hipster faggot'
etc etc."

Rio's my man. toothygrin.gif

although Air is nice, and looks good on certain cars, i prefer the HARDCORE way of drive.

AND THAT THE REASON I DON'T DRIVE VW!
they always put air in their ride, i see less Opels with it. wink.gif
Mkid
I like how the only people backing up static are the ones without cars. lol

Just go coilovers. They are usually adjustable by at least an inch.

IMO
Air is good for cars that cost way to much to scrape with them, like NEW cars, cars that are restored like stripped till the last bolt and restored in new shape, or just people that like air for it's simplicity.
I am one of those, i love driving on coils, but if i come in a place i don't know the road, and the road is crap or the speedbumps are way to high for the car (been there) it would be easy to raise the car 5cm more to keep it safe...

But it all depends on what car it is and who drives with it and when...

If i would have the chance to put air on the golf, i would do it, but it's not legal in Belgium, yet!!
Hellrazr
i like Air just for the fact that i love being low but living in toronto with the roads its just not possible to be static witch is something im looking in to for my jetta when i get the front parts gasp.gif

AHUM!?!?

but now i'm confused: Static is only with coilovers, right? or is that with springs?

caus i have a coilover set, and i like it.
want to make it lower, but want to find all the other s**t first, to know how low i can gow. wink.gif toung.gif

but like i said, airride is nice on certain cars.
like Ivan said, on the new cars it looks nice, and on the real showrides, that have no original thing left, and so. wink.gif
Mkid
If your a real baller... electronically adjustable coilovers. YEAAAAAAAAH
Daniel.
Air.

Static is cool 'n stuff, but not everyone can take the extra financial risk of your car breaking down?
M.I.V. Design.
Also, i noticed: the people that say f**k air, switches are for bitches, ... are those that cant afford air or are jealous on those that have air, real life experiences wink.gif

AHUM!?!?

You didn't bash on air ride like the others. lol
FnF_Racer
indeed i can't afford air, and if i could, i would spend it on other things, like a full bodykit, or a new paintjob.

but the bottom line is: everyone has their taste. wink.gif
M.I.V. Design.
I would take the air before the paintjob
A fresh paint can cost more than air you know wink.gif
FnF_Racer
but it looks dumb if you have an ride with air, and your paint is f**ked with small scratches and paintchips. wink.gif
that is the downside of most tuning: that people do the nicest things, but just do it in the wrong order.
i bought a lowering, before wheels. i see more people drive in 4x4, with the nicest rims. that is what i don't like. wink.gif
stancemaster
I like both. I PREFER static, however.

air is only cool if you roll dumped anyways, if you roll on the daily with wheelgap/4x4 height (more than 2" off the ground) then get the f**k out you poser piece of s**t, you're not cool. Air is also for those who want a decent ride quality (i.e. VIP cars, even though it's still more gangster to roll static with a VIP car)

unox, you've apparently never owned a dumped car. I used to love bottoming out and scraping everywhere, then I realized the whole underside of my car was getting proper f**ked, now I drive like a f**king granny and do my damndest to not bottom out or scrape anymore. also, nobody AIMS for lane dots (at least if you're low enough to break them), we're always trying to miss them, not only because it's f**king uncomfortable to hit them, but the ticket if you get caught smashing them is like $400 for the first and $200 for each succeeding one.

my personal preference is to have the car just low enough to smack (not break) lane dots on the daily, and I can usually drive to work at that height without bottoming out.
Hellrazr
So many good points in that post
FnF_Racer
for the non americans: google can't find anything.
euhm, i mean: what are lane dots?
Hellrazr
stancemaster
City Titties
Road Turtles
Lane Markers

basically those stupid ceramic things that show you where your lane is.
FnF_Racer
oh, those.

those things i drive over with my wheels, when i want to wake up when i'm driving.... toung.gif

Noodles
we dont hav ethose here, weve only got the odd one to show the fire engines and that where the firehydrants are underground, so if i get a car, im gonna dump it to the ground, lower then yours ian, because our roads are f**king smooth, apart from the odd speedbump
Unox.
eh, i'm a dumbass like that, i would honestly put air on a luxury sedan (say, infiniti Q/M45)
but, assuming i won't be able to afford a system that costs more than the car itself, i'd rather drive a haphazardly dumped FC anyday toung.gif

and cali roads have grooves, not potholes xd.gif
Noodles
id love to get a bagged car and static car, one for each feeling if wanna ride hard or comfortably
Sk3tchy
wow thanks for all the comments guys toothygrin.gif
what if it was a Vw beetle like i plan to get? at the moment im thinking of lowering it with a kit and then when the time comes proper slam it with bags?

i use coilovers,
i back up 'static'
big trick daddy andy

there are 3 of them in every possible exit of my street, 2 of them are even higher, even my mom`s stock fusion scrapes, what the point of having a car if i cant go out with it
Alex (Ghost)
bags imo for everyday, even low. I dont care, i like my kidneys. For anybody who is like Rolling Hard Sucks but i do it cause im not a pussy... try driving around with 14kg springs... you will tire quickly

We win toothygrin.gif
Mkid
holey bump. I'm not sure if I should close this or not. lol
Noodles
well, my cuz's civic is airbagged and when he drove it down here one of the airhose's blew up, so i reckon, static drop will be a whole lot cheaper/safer.
Cooper
WHAT HAPPENED TO SKETCHY ? sad.gif
pinkie
ive seen this topic on sexspec forums a million times. most people vote static and say bags is for ussies static demands respect cos you havto drive the height everywhee and its a massive c**t to get up or down anything. and it useually bumpy as all f**k. with bags the push of a button and yourover that speed hump like it wasnt even there.

for me. bags win. i just like the look of it going up n down from the flick of a switch lol

and mitch most proper installs will come with a set of removable bumpstops so when a bag fails it wont lay frame and you can still get home.
Big Daddy Clem
I probably will get bags for my clean vic.
Unox.
like i said a while ago

bags on a luxury big body

coils on a haphazard hard-roller
Noodles
static on a piece of s**t

bagg it on rich-mans car
PineCar
coils for everything.
Big Daddy Clem
Bags for more clean.

You let me know how you get on replacing your sump/manifold/lips after smashing them into potholes/speedbumps/animals.

Bags for dailys, coils for trailer queens and/or residents of completely flat land.
J.red
coils for performance. bags for show cars. And how is bags more clean? it's more s**t you have to install and modify for.
CR454
everyone knows that leaf springs are the best. ph34r.gif

and then magnetic suspention.

and shouldn't it be called Pnumatic suspention? or is it litteraly a bag of air? cant' those be damaged??? i worry about the CV joints on my polaris enoughf as it is but filled with presureized air and holding about 95% of the vehicles weight gasp.gif
Curtis
Technically, yes, it is a pneumatic system. Most decent setups these days use a bag over coil layout, Meaning that the car is running coilover suspension, just at its lowest setting. this is where the slammed part of the bags come from. When you want a lift, a compressor somewhere in the vehicle fires up, and fills the bags surrounding the coils with air, pressing against either end of the spring, decompressing it. This in turn lifts the car enough to drive it, and because bumps are absorbed by cushions of air, they are ultimately comfortable. Should they fail, they'll simply go back to their lowest setting, i.e. where the coils are, its on older, bag only setups that the car would bottom out on bag failure.

any other questions?
