Car shopping is a massive pain in the ass.

f**king tell me about it. Turns out the holy grain of 240's I found was a fraud. Did some digging after I didn't hear back from the seller (I offered to pay his asking price in cash at the end of the week, who wouldn't respond to that?)

Long story short, after amassing a large amount of concerning evidence, I did a reverse image search to confirm my suspicions and found the original listing that the scammer jacked the pics and description from. The actual car was in Canada, but turned out to be much closer to me, so I still wanted to buy it. When I tried to contact the seller, I was unable to because the ad was too old. Finally after some more digging, I found the expired ebay listing where the car was sold for its buy it now price. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

So, I was pretty pissed. The car was literally perfect, I was 100% committed to buying it but now that is 100% impossible.

So back to the drawing board. It really sucks because I was hoping to be in the car driving home this weekend.

I found a few more ok examples today, but both need paint bad, and one has like 400k miles.

Ugh (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

EDIT: Just almost impulse bought 75% of a Type X kit. Wtf is wrong with me. Literally had my credit card out

So update time. I've sent loads of emails to various S13 sellers and have nothing to show for it. I'm starting to think I'm just not fit to own a 240sx since I actually care about little details and the general condition of the car. Whenever I start asking specific questions the sellers either dodge them or just don't respond... pretty stupid on their part since unlike 95% of the people in the market for 240sx's, I actually have the money to spend. There have been several cars I'd have paid asking price for if I just got decent pics and information...

...anyway... kinda over the 240. Looking into getting either a Mk4 Supra of FD RX7 now. Obviously whatever I find will be stretching my budget, but at this point I'm in no hurry. If I'm going to spend many months on Craigslist I'd rather it be for a legend like the Supra or a timeless beauty like the RX7.

Next update will be with an actual car... hopefully sooner rather than later.

Thanks Richard (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile2.gif) Hopefully I'll be spending more time in the team section soon, I haven't had anytime to spare for pixeling being back at school.

I'm attracted to the Supra mostly because it's built like an absolute tank. Kind of the polar opposite of the RX7 in terms or reliability. I wish the Supra was smaller and lighter though. The petite-ness of the RX7 is one of my favorite parts I love the idea of a small, nimble car. Obviously, the Supra doesn't exactly fit that description, but I like for a different reason.

I replied to a half dozen or so Supra ads, most were pretty sketchy, but I don't really care since I'd pay with cash, in person, after seeing the car for myself. If someone wants to sell their Supra for less than it's worth on a unknown classifieds site, more power to them. There is only one way to figure out who's legitimate and who's not.

Also found a really nice RX7 on Craigs from a dealer. I'm not a fan of dealers, but this one foolishly put "All prices below KBB" on their page... KBB values even excellent RX7's below $10k... wayyyyy below actual market value (truly excellent ones are closer to $18k). So I'll definitely be looking into buying it if the dealer is serious about their "All prices below KBB" credo.

The cheap rx7 is definitely worth looking, but there might be a reason why he sells for cheap. I never believe the quote "I'm done with this car" haha. I had a time when I was also searching for a supra, but most were pre-tuned with a higher price (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

LS7 would demolish my budget on it's own lol. I've considered buying a roller and swapping an engine. There is one nice FD for $3500. At that price I could probably finish a swap (or find a 13B) with the money I've got, but the issue then becomes transport. I'm planning on driving whatever I buy home myself to save money (there is nothing worth buying where I live). Obviously with a roller I'd need it trailered or shipped.

I heard back from one Supra seller and he specifically said "the price is correct" without any prior prompting from me so that instantly raised a red flag. Asked for recent pics and haven't heard back.... too many scumbags in this world.

Ahh, scams. Pain in the ass (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toung.gif) A while back when I was looking I found a very good looking and very fairly priced S14, and, well, yep, scam.

also shut the hell up andy, even original 13B unmolested FC's are decently cheap as it is

Well guys. It finally happened. I gave up BOUGHT A F***ING CAR.

Not gonna say what it is until i get my own pics (making the trek to pic it up this weekend), but I will say it is NOT an RX-7. It is also VERY far from stock.

What convinced me to forget about the RX-7 and buy it was A.) The RX-7 search was going horrible and B.) this thing was in great shape with an amazing parts list. It needs a little love to be great but I will get it there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Stay tuned. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)
