Picking it up today at six, and then I'll get more pictures. Unfortunately, it's the 90hp 2.3 4-cylinder engine with an automatic.... But I didn't have much choice when I bought it for $600, so STFU.
Current plans are to redo the black trim, since it's turning yellow on the back bumper and it's just faded in general, and then... that's all I have in mind right now.
90hp from a 2.3?! Jeesus christ my 1.4 8v produces 75, my old 16v 1.4 made 100! How the f**k do americans make such bad engines?!
steal the blue one too
Nowhere near as bad as the Jag V12 that only puts out a little over 100.
I honestly have no idea why it's so underpowered, but as soon as I find a job, that's going to change. Unless it's too late to matter. I only plan on keeping it for a year, unless one of my parents wants to use it while I'm in college.
I do wish I was getting the blue one. It's much cooler.
Very cool, you paid 600 for that ? Is this some kind of a joke? you can get that thing for like 40 pesos dude
Are you gonna redo the paint to? because that also looks kinda scratchy .. Otherwise nice for that price
Probably won't redo the paint. It is pretty bad, but a quality paint job would nearly double the cost of the car. It's just not in my budget at the moment.
I will send you a few buckets of paint that I used on my Maserati, I don't need them anymore and I'm moving out soon
plastidip the black trim, problem solved. fyi plastidip is what i used to black out the front of my car. you can get it at home depot for cheap.
Alternatively you can use a regular pink rubber eraser (no joke, it works for stained matte black pieces. Just scrub the stain off and then wipe away the shavings) to take out stains from it and then use some tire-shine on it. Won't last forever but good to do each time you wash it.
early american 4 cylinders weren't very high revving engines. They were built similar to the way they built the v8's. They rev well under the point where horsepower is higher than torque which is somewhere around 5120 rpm. As a result, this motor makes 90hp, but nearly 125 ft lb's of torque. Whereas a higher revving engine like a honda would make 140 hp on the same torque numbers. Horsepower is only a function of your torque and rpms.
lol I would love that for a first car, you can pretend to be Vanilla Ice just with half the cylinders
I will...... Tomorrow, or possibly Wednesday. It's been sitting for two months and won't start. But the seller, who is now officially the most awesome person ever, said "I promised you a running car, and that's what you're getting." He's doing all the work on it.
you write the dumbest comments i've ever seen on the internet
You should have mustang like 21 jump street
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc-P8oDuS0Q
Her name is now Eileen, after this song came to mind while I was muttering "Come on...." every time we tried to start it yesterday.
wow man thats deep
thanks cutie
strange my 1.3L inline 4 has 92hp dynoed about month ago... are u sure its only 90hp?
edit: im not sure is my car stock... but anyways
i meant 40 thousand
Mustang?
Fox body...
ALTHOUGH! Better than I've got. Don't diss my bike dood. Why diid you not get a manuel vehicle?
nothing wrong with fox bodies, they've got great potential. and I kinda like the boxy look of them. I've definitely seen my fair share of sexy fox bodies.
I didn't get a manual because why would I pass up on this for $600?
Even if it was more, I don't see any reason to get a manual
because it's old school ....... dude ...
Man...
Manual > Automatic
Sorry I forgot everybody on PCA was a driving expert
Sarcasm?Do you drive automatic?
i drive both
automatic:
+easy to drive
+ only 2 pedals
+ no need to check RPM all time
- possibly pressing of wrong pedal
- if you only drive automatic cars you cant drive your friends manual
manual:
+clutch
+possibly more economic while driving (80 km/h with fifth gear ,etc.)
+as said better driving experience
+you can drive your friends automatic
-you have to check rpm
-harder to drive than automatic
it's so boring to drive AT car, but on the other hand you can relax at city driving....
do you really chech rpm line every time? haha
Guys, calm down. Just put an electronically controlled twin clutch transmission in it that changes gears faster than a professional driver and everyone will be happy.
yep, twin clutch tranny is awesome thing, but approx $3000 costs to repair volkswagen DSG's mechatronik
I've already started saving money for it
Yeah sorry to jack your thread bryce I'm not gonna knock you for getting an automatic as I know you know that the manual is better. For the price you paid you cannot complain!
Also, convertibles are a win, period.
Now slam it
Yes thats right Ben.We want some pussy pics!
nice one
Got it home today. My mom took a picture, but.... Holy s**t iPods have bad cameras.
The battery is so insanely close to dying. I mean, I was going to run out tomorrow to buy a cassette tape iPod connector thingamajig, but if I can even get it to start at home it will probably be dead in the parking lot. Especially since the power windows are basically mandatory with the lack of AC in 90+ degrees. So I'll probably spend tomorrow just cleaning it until either of my parents get home to go get me a new battery, or to let me borrow one of theirs for the day.
Sweet! Now 2jz swap it!
Or rb26dett
If I do anything big to it, it will just be a Saleen body kit.
Because sexy.
But that's a big if.
if you do this you must design the interior like a space ship
it needs bigger wheels than what you have now
I do agree about that. I'm probably going to buy my next set of tires at Pull-A-Part. $14 each for a standard rim with a tire on it. $60 for used tires that still have plenty of life in them, and then I get that money back and more by selling the rims I already have. And it's totally DIY.
Hopefully I'll find some of these:
Which is actually likely with how often 5.0s show up in there. I just have to make sure to get there the same day one is put on the lot. Wheels are always the first thing to go.
Screw good rims if your engine sucks.Engine is the most important its like heart of humans only with gas as blood !
No. You should always sort the chassis out before you even look at the engine. Power is nothing without Control.
Weight is most important in my book. It helps with every single thing.
But anyway, my point about the wheels is it's very cheap to get them at the junkyard. And it's necessary to replace the tires after a while. The engine is totally fine as it is, so upgrading it is just extra money that I don't have.
Its actually a quote from many years ago that Pirrelli adopted as their slogan. It is relevent in pretty much all aspects of life
i must ask
do you still want a sex change
Pfft Saleen body kit....
Get the Mclaren Body kit
The chick comes extra with the kit although it was produced in the 80's I'm sure she's aged a few years
me too dude
I don't know for sure.
I think at one point they were sold with those lights.
Inspiration:
I wish that someone made a cold air intake for my engine... I might make my own, but it still costs about as much to do that as a proper kit for the 5.0 would.
aren't CAI's universal? you just pop the new piping on an be done. If not. why not save that cash and one day i'll drag your ass to my PullAPart and get you something you can hoon
So, uhh..... It's been in the shop for a long time. Short circuit. Didn't notice it until it was in for basic maintenance, and now they're holding onto it indefinitely until they find the problem.
The thing I love about my mechanic, is that any other place would say "Okay, we'll replace all the electrics and that'll be $1,500." but my guys are taking the time to pinpoint the specific thing to fix, and they're not even charging me to keep the car there all this time. Also, the labor going into finding the problem is totally free. If they find it and I want to fix it myself, I can just go and take it home without paying a dime. Of course, in that case I'd give a nice tip, but still. They're wonderful.
dont reffer em as "wonderful" trust me
look for diagrams online
yo dog, I'm down with the 2.3L
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvgyABqHcMw&feature=plcp
but you should seriously consider doing things, and cutting springs, real talk.
god bless u man
Whooa, Ian's back!
Yeah, I definitely want to get to work as soon as possible. Sucks that it's STILL in the shop. I should have brought it to the British car show I went to today. It's an electrical problem, so the Jag owners could certainly help me out.
Man u just gotta re connect the wires
I got it back on Thursday, and it caught on fire Saturday morning. Nothing was damaged except for some sort of plug thing in the alternator that only costs $8 and can be replaced without tools, so it's no big setback at all. Still, what the hell.
not cool, u should do a full check up, it wont be cool if it sets itself on fire again
i guess ferrari made a mustang
Bryce, if you swap a 5.0 in it, go with a o/r x pipe with flowmaster 40s. You car will thank you. It makes the most aggressive sound our of any other setup.
Turns out the fire melted some plugs on the alternator that can only be fixed by replacing the entire alternator.... Luckily, I found a cheap used one, so all is not lost.
New alternator is in, and it's running!
Also, stripes:
-10 cool point for not having the roof open
omg the wheel gap and the offset
Raise or leave alone. I hate low dragsters. If it wasn't too ridiculous, I'd say make it into a gasser.
pfft this is your daily not a dragster lol
SLAM
>not dailying a drag mustang
>2012
Srsly guise. I never said I'm going to make it a dragster. All I said was that would be the only decent way to modify it if money wasn't an object. Or at least that's what I implied. Or tried to.
its your old focus over there?
I like better the focus than the stang ):
The Focus is my dad's. The plan was originally to find him a new car and give the Focus to me, but this just worked out better for us.
STANCES INSPIRATION POST.
That white one's about as low as I'll ever go. And that's only if I lower it at all.
pussy
lol man, all this stance business turned build threads into s**t, 'lower it' got old within 5 minutes
It caught on fire?!
I got a glass rear window at Pull-A-Part, but then some guy came out of nowhere and shattered it with his wheelbarrow. I was like what the f**k. So now I'm still stuck with the foggy, blurry, vinyl thing.
Any recommendations for cheap black spray paint to go over the trim? I don't want to spend more than $5 for a can, and it can't be noticeably glossy, nor can it be super runny. I don't want it to dry with drips and pools and s**t.
plastidip, no idea if you can get it over there, but its touch dry within 10 minutes, and doesn't need any prep. its a rubbery finish though so you need a clear coat if you want gloss, but you wont have to pay for primers like you would with other spray paints
Bryce happy new year and I wish you great fun with Stang
I can vouch for plasti dip, that s**t works wonders! Sprayed em on my brother in law's wheels and has been holding up for a couple of months now. If it starts to peel it can be an easy ass fix. just make sure you spray on light coats to keep it from forming dribbles and s**t.
Oh and If you do mess up, you can always peel it off and respray.
