Hey guys, so on Friday last week I made a radical move in like 4 hours

I went to buy a car out of the blue, with minimal funds

Travelled about 2 hours of motorway to get to it, and I even drove it back haha (no insurance and many issues with it but I will get to that later)

(IMG:http://i.imgur.com/1Oe705B.png)

It's a Volkswagen Polo Mk2F Genesis, apparently its a Coupe? But I'm pretty sure its a hatch haha Germans

So a little spec

1.3L N/A
5 Speed Gearbox (I believe its a GT/G40 gearbox)
Basic spec interior trim I guess (Has heater and did have a radio (did have))
BBS RA's 14/6j (these came from factory!)
Aftermarket exhaust system (Unsure what brand, but the backbox/tips are horrid)

Good points:
it cost me £450 haha
Wheels are good and solid
interior is literally like new other than the missing radio
no rust whatsover (tiny bits of surface rust in small areas but not unless you put your face to it)
almost mechanically sound
sounds as healthy as it did from factory with 150K miles!
Its a lot of fun to drive!

Bad Points:
really beat body/paint, has a decent dent in the boot lid
has no bonnet hinges (on the way home the bonnet kept lifting up haha)
seems like it has no front OS wheel bearing, this got worse when driving at 60+mph for 2 hours on a rough motorway
has no radio
has a really bold front NS tyre, which I hadn't realised till today and wondered why it understeered a little and wheelspun
has monster truck rideheight
isn't quite a G40 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
oh and the taillights are a little dodgey haha (bad earth)

but yeah unsure what I'm going to do with it, whether itll be put to OEM, OEM+ or whatever the f**k I want

But yeah, first thing first is to get it sorted to drive without s**tting myself when doing anything in it

I washed it today, and if i have time I'll take pics tomorrow

Aha dude I'd rather the Manta, but it was too much for a start, and also insurance would not be possible for me, a 2Ltr 2WD classic would be my arm and leg to insure (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) this is basically the next best thing I guess

Lol the one he's talking about is mint

My girlfriend likes to break peoples necks, I don't just mean with her poor photography (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

But yeah I'd love to, but it would be a lot of money to do and also my shell and interior is too mint to rip it apart and rally it really, maybe if I find another shell or something

Anyways a little update, drove it to store it at my grandparents house this morning on my way to work experience with my Dad, and spoke to his boss and he said I can bring it in tomorrow and work on it! Even said I can use one of the car bays and lifts! Awesome! But yeah we have thought of ways to fix all the issues with the parts we have without spending much, I got a free tyre with the car, and the spare wheel has a new tyre on it, so the two bad tyres i have (one bald and one has a tear/bulge in the sidewall) will be replaced and we will rotate the tyres round so the two best sit at the front. The taillight issue is the ground wire has lost connection and melted the surrounding casing, so we're splicing the wire and connecting it up differently, rather than buying a new taillight bulb rack. Just gunna order some hood pins and a new front wheel bearing set and I should be all good to go! We've noticed the back of the sunroofs drain holes are a little sealed over and the seal around the sunroof is deteriorating a little so thats probably next on my list. But overall its looking good and I should be on the road by the end of the week! I'll try to get pics if i can

Bad paint... I know how you feel. Half my roof has been missing paint/flaking for over a year (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toung.gif)

Nice car

Couldn't you find a better condition car for just a little bit more $?

Well seeing as the shell of the car is immaculate, not even surface rust on any of the arches or anything I think its a steal (if you look at even a year old car here in the UK thats hard to find haha) and also almost all the original interior is there, and its a good spec of car too

I mean the wheels are worth £200 as they are so thats half the car paid back already if i sold them haha

My dads boss let me bring the car into his Garage, heres a few pics of it and another very special car

and my dads rad toolbox
(IMG:http://i.imgur.com/hs784py.jpg)

(IMG:http://i.imgur.com/I2CliAr.jpg)

So I got the bearing fixed, it was just really really loose, the nut was sat on the edge of its thread ahaha I got a new tyre and changed the other front one, so the front two are better

I was going to be insured this morning, however they c**ked up my policy and they magically got me insured on another car, so I called up and they tried charging me £3K to change to my car because of their error! So I got a refund of my deposit and just awaiting the money to get back into my account. But my Dad said he may sort it out for me and pay for me until I get my money back

I new my luck would run out, I'm really angry and frustrated about it, but oh well

So you talked to the company to set up insurance, and put a deposit... But they f**ked up the information and put on the wrong car?

And then when you told them of their mistake, they said you need to pay £3000 to fix their mistake??!?!?!??! Even though the insurance hasn't even begun...

If that's the case, I wouldn't bother getting insurance with that company... You don't know how they will f**k you over when you really need the insurance
