Pixel Car Art _ Help and Support _ What are the requirements for a pixel art car?

Posted by: high_on_unicorns Apr 7 2015, 03:02 PM

So i have spent a few days looking at the art on this site, and i was wondering what parametres an image had to conform to to be counted as pixel art cars? For example is the picture below, which is fairly high definition, pixel art, or does it have to be 1 pixel = 1 inch?

Thanks smile2.gif

Very cool, that looks about right. there's no real size limit, but generally I think people use 1 pixel = 1 inch as a guide, though people make larger/smaller pixel cars. the only problem I see with this one is that it doesn't look pixeled, it has too many shades and looks like you used some auto-AA tools or something. the point of pixel cars is that they're done by hand, without blur/auto-AA tools and made with relatively low shade counts(usually 10-20 for the body's shading). Browse the forum a bit and you'll be able to see this a bit more easily

Also, remember to save things as .png, .jpg ruins the quality of pixel art.

that image isnt particularly pixel art as its taken straight from S-Tuner

pixel art is when you pixellate a painting, so you actually apply the pixels yourself, usually using a shade bar

Thanks for clarifying smile2.gif (And yes, that was made on s-tuner, which is what introduced me to this forum in the first place)
