Posted by: DMC-12 Jun 29 2010, 05:39 PM

You shouldn't toung.gif cause they're dead gasp.gif

Posted by: Kubason Jun 29 2010, 07:11 PM

nice one, my father has this one, too but without spoiler and different color
is that 1.8?

Posted by: carhartt Jun 29 2010, 07:19 PM

congratz bud smile2.gif

Posted by: Shafz Jun 29 2010, 07:45 PM

Judging by the pic I'm guessing its a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, quick cars.

Shafz.

Posted by: Kubason Jun 29 2010, 07:51 PM

woah look who's here ^^
it isn't ralliart I think, just lancer sport sedan with everythink you can have on it

Posted by: FnF_Racer Jun 29 2010, 07:52 PM

wow. just wow.

don't rice it up. toung.gif

Posted by: Rywired Jun 29 2010, 07:53 PM

OMFG! You did it ohmy.gif

Posted by: Shafz Jun 29 2010, 07:54 PM

Wow Kubason you remember me? ohmy.gif

And yeah the bonnet/hood isn't like the RALLIART one, my mistake.

Shafz.

Posted by: Mkid Jun 29 2010, 07:56 PM

This is the Ralliart one... lmao

its a turbo 2.0L to whoever asked... i think thats what you were askin.

So yes... you do see a ralliart emblem. and the hood is an aluminum hood from an evo X (it comes on the ralliart)

Posted by: Shafz Jun 29 2010, 07:57 PM

Yeah I just realised it does have the hood vent, just the colour didn't make it obvious!

Its subtle, I like it, 235bhp/253lbft so its not exactly slow, not exactly what I'd buy with the money but I suppose pricing is different in the US..

Shafz.

Posted by: Mkid Jun 29 2010, 08:01 PM

Its very quick. It does have a pretty noticeable turbo lag but its kind of cool in a way. You only get boost around 3k RPM

Then again, I have yet to put it into its "sport mode" (or whatever its called) yet... its in sort of "economy mode" right now.

And I payed 19,000 US$ for it. I think it was a pretty good deal.

Posted by: Shafz Jun 29 2010, 08:02 PM

Oh at $19k USD Its cheaper than the car I would've got, forgot how good value these lancers are, I've been in a few turbocharged cars and tbh.. I kind of like turbo lag, not for me but for the passengers, the sudden kick they get is so awesome, watching them fly back..

Shafz.

Posted by: Mkid Jun 29 2010, 08:05 PM

Hahaha, yes, it does stick you to the back of your seat when its ready to xd.gif its like "wait for it... WOOOSH!" haha

Posted by: Angrybooger2 Jun 30 2010, 03:13 AM

it's one step below the evo..
so it's not the budget model but the most expensive lancer wink.gif

Posted by: Hellrazr Jun 30 2010, 03:26 AM

I dont like the chrome accents around wheel arches they look cheap xd.gif

i like the rest it is a sweet car

Posted by: Mkid Jun 30 2010, 04:16 AM

You actually don't notice those chrome accents in person for some reason, I thought it looked stupid in pics, but when i'm near the car i never even notice them. *shrug*

Posted by: Hellrazr Jun 30 2010, 04:18 AM

i still say they looks cheap but hey like they say the camera adds 10 pounds lmao xd.gif

Get some sexy rims on that b1tch.

Posted by: Mkid Jun 30 2010, 04:36 AM

everything is still under warranty. no mods yet. even the tires are under warranty xd.gif its basically brand new still.

Posted by: .ecyrB Jun 30 2010, 04:37 AM

Ah, I see. xd.gif Well, have lot of fun with it! It's already great.

Posted by: Mr.Acura-te Jun 30 2010, 06:21 AM

Dont do any crazy slides and pull 400 G's or the black box in the car will pick it up and void yo warranty.

Posted by: Kubason Jun 30 2010, 12:48 PM

wow, so it is ralli art! that's much cooler then I expected smile2.gif

Posted by: Mkid Jun 30 2010, 03:39 PM

haha, yeah. it states that "racing" will void the warranty

Thats true I suppose. But then I'd have to swap them out every time I take it to the shop.

To be honest, I'm so happy with the car, I don't want to violate it yet. maybe when I get more used to it and want a change. Really, the only thing I would change would be wheels. It already looks nice. The wheels are the worst part of the car in my opinion. They are chunky and give it an OEM look, in a bad way. They make the car look more tame.

Posted by: Daniel. Jul 1 2010, 03:12 PM

f**kING HOT

I WANT IT

Gratz with your purchase, have fun with it smile2.gif

The only Ralliarts we have are Colts -.- I want a ralliart, because an evo would be too expensive and a normal one too basic. The 'normal' Lancers have 4 cilinders toung.gif

5 minutes work
i'm willing to swap my rims every week if i have nuf sets of m lol

Five minutes??? Did you forget that he has to lift the car off the ground at least twice, and pick up and carry a grand total of eight wheels? toung.gif I understand why he doesn't want to do that.

Stoere jongen facepalm.gif

He was talking about everytime he wants to drive it, so everyday switching back to his normal rims.

BTW Mike, it's alright, leave it like this for now, there's no need to f**k the car up already toung.gif

My car is a 4 banger too... its just a big 4 banger (2.0L) and has a turbo.

Posted by: Hellrazr Jul 1 2010, 06:59 PM

Doesn't the Rally Standards state the motor needs to be a 2.0L so it would make scents that the motor a 2.0L being its a Ralliart and all in all its just a detuned and cheaper version of the Evo X. Yours has AWD?

Posted by: Mkid Jul 1 2010, 07:40 PM

Its not so much a detuned evo. its more of a regular lancer with evo parts. It has the same 2.0 block as the evoX. and yes it is AWD. It has the AWD system from the Evo IX. it's basically an Evo Frankenstein. lol

Posted by: Hellrazr Jul 1 2010, 08:06 PM

Well, it has the same engine, that's the most important. xd.gif

Posted by: Alex (Ghost) Oct 25 2010, 04:30 PM

rallyart lancer has the exact sam running gear as the evo just the ECU has been detuned slightly. Easy fix is to get it flashed to evo settings and tada! instant evo LOL

Posted by: Andrew Oct 25 2010, 04:35 PM

old ralliart has also 4wd???? :Uu??

Posted by: Mkid Oct 25 2010, 04:45 PM

nice bump guys. lol. I don't mind tho :3

and yeah, I could get like 50 more horsepower with like $25 worth of parts and a retune/flash. lol

Posted by: Mkid Oct 25 2010, 06:59 PM

The evo does have some different hardware though. it has a bigger turbo, bigger fmic and a different AWD system

plus more obvious stuff like a wider wheelbase and wider wheels

Posted by: DLuZive Oct 26 2010, 08:07 AM

Well, you buy the same turbo that hmm, http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D9zSzYcyvAwY&h=b1695 has.

yes, and yes, twin clutch actually :3

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 01:53 AM

I'm thinking about doing this to my RA:

A little EvoX style blacking out. I'd probably leave the emblem chrome though. Not too sure if I would carry it down onto the lip like that or not...

just to refresh your memory, this is how it looks now:

Posted by: .ecyrB Oct 29 2010, 01:58 AM

It haz lipstick. toung.gif

Make it black mang.

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 02:01 AM

all the way down or just the chrome ring?

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 02:07 AM

this would be with just the chrome ring made black...

excuse the wrong color and the tuning on the rest of the car. only focus on the grille wink.gif

Posted by: Helmasaur King Oct 29 2010, 02:24 AM

DANGGGGGGGGGGGGGG dude thats a cool ride whered you get it

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 02:49 AM

craigslist... lol

literally.

Posted by: Rywired Oct 29 2010, 02:52 AM

It needs LOWER!

Posted by: Andrew Oct 29 2010, 02:56 AM

but cluthc pedal?

yeah only the grill like the second pic u posted

and yeah it needs some sort of stance

do not hellaflush it
and slam the enkeis

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 03:51 AM

Okay, I'm going to paint the grille and fender trim black. My first mod because it can't hurt the warranty :3

now just need to find time to do it.

Andrew, no clutch pedal. I don't think you could have a pedal with twin clutches... what would that be? two pedals? lol

Once my warranty expires I will do more.

I've ditched the Enkei RPF1 idea... the 18"s look small because of how much lip those wheels have... and 19" wheels are just ridiculous... both in price and fitment.

I'm planning on getting these wheels:

Rota Torques

Basically Work Emotion CR-Kai knock offs, but they come in nicer colors such as the above picture, which is the color I want :3

Those are 18" in the pic and they don't look near as small as the 18" Enkei's because the spokes go all the way to the edge of the lip.

mine won't be that concave though because the ralliart has shallower wheel wells sad.gif

They would look more like this:

Flatter, but still nice

They are also a heck of a lot cheaper, like $150 less per wheel, if not more.

I want to get a mild drop, maybe like an inch or something. I'm still looking for comfort and not f**king up my lip on everything, just a nice(er) stance.

Posted by: Mitch. Oct 29 2010, 06:19 AM

coil overs, and does it have recaro seats?

Posted by: Andrew Oct 29 2010, 06:26 AM

sorry mike my mechanical knowledge is as big as knowing how to change my bikeĀ“s flat tyre toung.gif

works look cool
or rotas what eva
the stance that mazda has is cool
it would look beast in the frankenevo

maybe painting the grill trim and the whole lip black idk something like that

and it needs a proper gearbox toung.gif

bongrats

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 03:29 PM

No Recaros thankfully... every review I saw for them said they were horribly uncomfortable and are unadjustable. Basically would be the kind of seats you would put in at the track only. They said it was a bad idea to put them in a production car, especially one thats supposed to be more practical then the EVO. Good thing it was just an option wink.gif

Andrew, I was talking about the flatness of the spokes, not the stance. On the pic of the evo, the rim spokes curve inward. on the mazda3 they are more flat and flush with the outside of the rim.

If I got those wheels, they would look more like the mazda3's wheels because the fenders aren't deep enough to support that much concave. The EVO is a widebody car so you can shove like 9.5 inch wide wheels in there with +20 offset.

Posted by: DMC-12 Oct 29 2010, 03:43 PM

No no no! keep teh chrome!! The blackout would only really work on a lighter coloured car gasp.gif

Posted by: DLuZive Oct 29 2010, 03:43 PM

I Prefer the chrome tbh, have you got chrome anywhere else?

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 05:19 PM

not really. there is some chrome over the fenders, but that looks dumb too and I was going to make it black as well. other then that, just the window trim and emblems.

Wheel fitment recommended by tire places for my car:

5x114.3 bolt pattern 18"X8" +48 offset

I would like to get 18X8.5 +40 or +44 offset or something close to that... I might end up with 18X8.5 +48 instead and just use spacers or something because its hard to find offsets between 38 and 48

Posted by: DMC-12 Oct 29 2010, 05:26 PM

I think you'd have to black out all of the chrome if you were gonna do it

Posted by: Daniel. Oct 29 2010, 05:31 PM

Make the trim on the grille and fenders black, make the emblem red, like the old Mitsubishi logos, we had that on our Lancer toothygrin.gif

Posted by: Ben.H Oct 29 2010, 05:34 PM

5.114.3 is the same bolt pattern as the Evo 5, 6 and 7. I know you didn't get them in the USA but surely the wheels off them must show up on eBay from time to time? Just an option

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 09:02 PM

aren't those all just BBS wheels anyways?

Posted by: Mr.Acura-te Oct 29 2010, 09:14 PM

please dont buy rotas sad.gif

and please paint the stuff the right way. dont rattle can sad.gif

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 09:38 PM

all the guys use plasti-dip. It is super rugged and doesn't chip.

I'm probably going to end up going with the Rotas because they are so much cheaper. even if they don't have as many sizing options, I'm willing to take the hit if I can save like $500

Posted by: Ben.H Oct 29 2010, 10:39 PM

QUOTE (Mkid @ Oct 29 2010, 10:02 PM) *

Nope, Evo 5s and 6s had ones from OZ Racing, dunno about 7. Everyone only bashes Rota because it somehow became the cool thing to do, they aren't even that bad, there's about a million worse brands out there.

inb4brokenrotaphoto

Posted by: DMC-12 Oct 29 2010, 10:53 PM

Oh... right. nevermind me

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 11:24 PM

Rota was bought out by a different company quite awhile back and have since changed pretty much everything but the fact that they make knock offs of other rims.

Before they were bought out they were known to often be defective which is when everyone started to hate them. They are still trying to live down that bad rep from the previous ownership.

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 11:31 PM

I take that back... according to this:

http://www.rotawheels.com/hist.shtml

They have always been owned by PAWI... if PAWI only makes rota wheels... why isn't the company just called rota wheels? idk... throws me off.

Either way, they mainly make OEM wheels for a lot of manufacturers and have done so for a long time... so they definitely have experience.

It may have been when they started making replicas of after market wheels instead of following their own designs where things went sour... either way, they seem to have their act together now.

Posted by: Andrew Oct 29 2010, 11:35 PM

rota means broken in spanish LOL

buy some second hand og work wheels

and ben its not a cool thing to insult rota wheels
but is like the same thing chinese people are doing when making cars :S

Posted by: Mkid Oct 29 2010, 11:42 PM

Where the heck am I supposed to find used Work wheels? They aren't exactly all over the place. I'd have more luck finding used RPF1s lol

If anything, I'd get a quote for the Rotas I want from the WheelDudes guy on the EvolutionM forums and then take the quote to my local Work distributer and see if they will match the price.

I will probably end up doing that anyways just because the Work distributer is like 10 minutes from my house. Pretty surprising to me! Some of the cars on the Work website are actually cars from the shop near my house!

anyways, If I do get Rotas... I'll be sure not to get these toung.gif

http://www.rotawheels.com/wheels.asp?wheelid=15

They only come in 15"s anyways... thats like the stock steelie wheel size on my old civic! What the heck kind of car did they have that on? a mini?

Posted by: Andrew Oct 30 2010, 12:02 AM

Posted by: DLuZive Oct 30 2010, 12:39 AM

Posted by: J.red Oct 30 2010, 03:31 AM

problem solved.

Posted by: DLuZive Oct 30 2010, 03:47 AM

I like Fiske and 5Zigen, and Konig. I think they are quality, but I havnt looked them up to see so.

Posted by: Mkid Oct 30 2010, 06:39 AM

To me, its all pretty much the same s**t. They are all aluminum, there are only so many ways you can cast something... and either way, its only going to make it slightly stronger.

Posted by: Mr.Acura-te Oct 30 2010, 07:53 AM

The more you spend on automotive parts technically means the more quality it is.

cost - 80?

cost - 500

basically what im saying is.

if you put so much time into earning that money and put quite a bit of money into the car. why cheap out on the rest of it? wheels are pretty important for things other than looking good.

Posted by: J.red Oct 30 2010, 05:07 PM

enkei pf01

enkei rpf1

enkei gtc01

enkei flc01

Posted by: Mkid Oct 30 2010, 05:41 PM

What the hell, enkei makes knock offs too (pf01)? who the hell made that design first? lol

Posted by: Mkid Oct 30 2010, 06:28 PM

Doublepost

looked up those Enkeis PF01s... they come in very little size/offset options, only one color (aluminum) and lack the concave look of the Rotas or the Works.

And Ron... I think you'd look at things differently if the rims we are talking about + tires would cost just slightly less then your car.

Its not worth the money IMO, no matter how good the quality. I cant justify spending that much just to save some weight and look nicer!

The Rotas are priced at a price that I think is fair. Its not even insanely cheap. I'd still end up dishing out probably over $1000, but the price is justified.

Posted by: Helmasaur King Oct 30 2010, 06:29 PM

color the stoCK RIMS BLUE

Posted by: Mkid Oct 30 2010, 06:36 PM

maybe not blue... gunmetal??

lol, I'd still prefer the Works/Rotas

Posted by: J.red Oct 30 2010, 06:36 PM

The PF-01s are a lot lighter than the works or rotas. They're even lighter than the Enkei rpf1s are. They're pretty much racing rims.

Posted by: Mkid Oct 30 2010, 06:38 PM

Yeah... wonder how much they cost... lol.

Posted by: Ben.H Oct 30 2010, 06:45 PM

Why does Mike need ridiculously strong and light wheels? To my knowledge Mike doesn't take his car to the track all the time, it's not like his wheels will snap due to stress during day-to-day driving

+50000

btw... just saw these...

ADVAN RS-D 19X10.0 +25

Would never fit my car... but I can dream <3

However, they do come in 18X8.5 +51 ... But with +51 MM of offset... would they even be deep dish anymore? lol. I wish I could find pics of that size, but I can't

Posted by: J.red Oct 30 2010, 08:44 PM

I'm not saying you need lightweight/superstrong/racing wheels. But it wouldn't hurt anything if you did go that route. But, the Enkeis are cheaper than the Works and a little more than the Rotas. I'm just trying to give you options. toung.gif

Thats one of the Work dealers in my state, I'd imagine the one by my house would have similar pricing. Its really not bad and I think the Enkeis are quite a bit more.

In other words, as far as pricing goes:

Rota>Work>Enkei

Rota being the cheapest and Enkei being the most expensive.

EDIT: you might have to copy the link for some reason, clicking it doesn't seem to work.

Edit 2: nvm... it just worked now O_o

Is it not worth checking out 2nd hand sets on eBay?

Posted by: Mkid Oct 30 2010, 09:18 PM

also, just saw this on the Work dealers site:

Unfortunately, there are shops out there that don't buy directly and can get away with posting prices below MAP.

But! Since, we value your business and strive to keep our prices low, and SAVE you money! We will price match or reduce the cost by 5% depending on the item.

so maybe Work=Rota?

I love the Rota Hyper Black wheel color though sad.gif the Work gunmetal and bronze colors look dull.

Ben... try and find these rims on ebay. barely any are used, and the ones for sale that are new are overpriced.

Work Gunmetal CR-Kai

Rota Hyper Black Torque:

The CR-Kais are more dull and have a hint of blue to them...

The Torques are shinier and more of a neutral dark gray

Posted by: J.red Oct 30 2010, 10:48 PM

I've been finding the enkeis for a lot cheaper than that link you posted. And they are also available in matte black now as well. I've found them ranging anywhere from $215 to $240 right now.

Posted by: Mkid Oct 30 2010, 11:07 PM

I've been looking more for a shiny gray color or a dark, grayish (in pixel art terms, low saturated) bronze.

Why care about color?
If you can get it custom any day.

EDIT: with that, i mean powdercoat or sparkley or matte.

Posted by: DLuZive Oct 31 2010, 12:06 AM

I'm helping a friend look for rims too. It's for his drifty car, and as I was searchiing, I found TE37s for 4000, like HOLY s**t. Found some nice Jap wheels for 600 though. just go with whatever is your taste and you can afford.

Because that s**ts expensive

or at least I think it is? I don't really know anywhere that does it either.

problem is, if you want to powdercoat a rim it needs to be sandblasted

Posted by: J.red Oct 31 2010, 04:20 PM

from my experience, most places that do powder coating professionally also are able to do the sand blasting and prep work.

Posted by: Mkid Oct 31 2010, 04:40 PM

at that point... it just doesn't really seem worth it. sandblasted/repainted WORKs or Rotas that already come in the color I want?

lol, I don't mind suggestions, although I really hope you guys are joking on most of these. I don't particularly want to be different nor do I want to follow a trend. I just want something that looks nice on my car. So far it seems like the CR-Kais or the Torques look the nicest in my opinion.

Posted by: M.I.V. Design. Nov 1 2010, 03:09 PM

If i may suggest

Volk CE28N wub.gif

Posted by: Mkid Nov 1 2010, 03:11 PM

I still like the CR-Kais/Torques better. lol

Posted by: Josн Nov 1 2010, 07:25 PM

the kai's are badasssssss as long as you'd get a set with decent offset. shallow kai's look like pooooo

Posted by: Mkid Nov 1 2010, 07:35 PM

Well, +43 offset is the best I can get for the CR-Kai's which is considered "flat faced" according to Work's wheel charts. Anything else will either poke, or won't give me enough clearance on the inside.

But that is actually a good thing to me, its one of the reasons why I am still considering the Works, the closest match I can get without poke for the Torques is +48... which to me seems like it would be full flat, worse then +43 for sure. It would also tuck for sure without spacers, although it would tuck less then stock which is still a positive.

In short here is the positives and negatives chart:

Rota Torque: Nicer colors, possibly cheaper. not a perfect fit (tuck + less concave), brand has bad rep.

Work CR-Kai: Perfect flush fitment for my car (still lacking much concave, but that is my cars fault), respected brand. Possibly pricier, boring looking color options.

Posted by: Josн Nov 1 2010, 07:41 PM

more expensive + less colors + good quality/rep > cheaper (which reflects quality usually) + more colors + bad quality/rep

Posted by: Kubason Nov 1 2010, 07:46 PM

I think those rims fit it nicely, it was father's extra wish when he bouhgt this car
and red color but red color would cost 5000 extra dollars toothygrin.gif
so I would keep them

Posted by: Mkid Nov 1 2010, 07:47 PM

for referance, this is the exact size (18X8.5) and offset that I would get on my car of the:

Work Cr-Kai (+43):

Rota Torque (+48):

I guess the 5mm really doesn't change the concave that much... it will just make them more flush.

I still can't get over how nice and shiny the Rotas always look though.

UPDATE!

The guy with that STI in the above picture is actually selling them looking at the post they came from... and he lives like 2 hours away O_o

if you do the torques, get that offset. the +48 looks soooooo gay. lol

Posted by: Mkid Nov 2 2010, 12:24 AM

that won't fit my car unless I wanna have hella poke. thats an evo. my fenders are like at least an inch more narrow then that. so while they are flush on that car, they'd be poking like an inch out on mine. lol

this is why people use overfenders.

My car can't even fit anything smaller then a 17 because the brakes are too big.

anyways, negotiating with this guy right now. I'm going to try to get the price down because right now I'd only be saving about (after tires and everything) $500 by going used. I'd like to increase that margin a little.

I will need to get new tires, TPMS sensors (f**k technology and new laws sleep.gif) and possibly lugs and hub rings (I'm asking him right now if he has either to go along with them)

So I will throw that all in his face and ask if he can take a price cut to help a brother out.

quitcherbitchin

http://www.driftworks.com/forum/technical/75490-rota-quality.html

Those drifters have no problem with Rotas and state that they only break under pressures that would break ANY wheel (note the pic of the broken Work Meisters)

Anyways, I found out that if I get these wheels, I will also need to get some spacers for the rear for proper clearance... 5mm minimum safe, but I'm gonna get some 10mm spacers to be hellaflush! toothygrin.gif

This is a problem I wouldn't have with the Works because the offset would have them be flush with no spacers...

Its a good thing spacers are super cheap.

Posted by: Helmasaur King Nov 3 2010, 04:13 AM

yeah dog get some hubcaps you find in the street and paint them

Posted by: Mkid Nov 3 2010, 02:46 PM

I haven't bought them yet! I'm still deciding on what I want...

I'm starting to think maybe getting wider wheels at the sake of concave/offset may not be the best idea.

I could get 18X8.5 +48 with 10mm spacers in the back to be flush...

or 18X8 +35 with no spacers

this is what 18X8 +35 looks like

a little more concave... but the wheels are half an inch less wide. its also still not near as much concave as that evo pic with the rotas that keeps getting thrown around.

What do you guys think? particularly josh because I know you liked concave!

Concave or wider wheels... that is the question.

Posted by: Mkid Nov 3 2010, 06:17 PM

And for comparison, these are 18X8.5 +48

as you can see, flatter, but wider.

Posted by: Josн Nov 3 2010, 07:39 PM

do the skinnier ones!

Posted by: Mkid Nov 3 2010, 08:28 PM

I've already made arrangements to meet the guy with the wider ones tomorrow.

I guess I figured that wider wheels would LOOK wider in the wheel... but thats not always the case due to offset if you are trying to avoid poke.

Oh well. I guess I'll cancel.

18X8 fits my car better anyways for the most part.

Posted by: Unox. Nov 3 2010, 08:29 PM

wider flush is hot bro

Posted by: Mkid Nov 3 2010, 08:41 PM

So you'd prefer the wider wheels even though they have a crappier offset + less concave?

see pics above

18X8.5 are the wider, crappier offsetted ones (the 3 pics I posted in a row [note: these are not on a lancer, so fitment will be different, I want you to look more at the concave/width of the wheels])

18X8 are the skinnier wheels but with more concave (the black lancer with the black wheels)

Posted by: Mkid Nov 3 2010, 10:24 PM

Guys... I know this will not make you happy... but:

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findWheelDetail.do?pc=49271&ar=40&wd=18&rw=8&rd=18&cs=225

Drag is probably even less respected then Rota, but f**k it! They are the perfect size and that price is freakin incredible! Full set of wheels and tires for under $1000? YES PLEASE!

I have a feeling wheels in Japan are about this price, they just get inflated to s**t because of all the middle men involved in the importation process. Everyone wants a buck.

In conclusion... BUY DOMESTIC! lawl

I don't even care that they are matte gunmetal like the Works, I can probably get them refinished and still save money.

Posted by: Josн Nov 4 2010, 12:52 AM

yeyeye. but cover up the gay drag centers, to avoid haterage

Posted by: Mkid Nov 4 2010, 02:23 AM

I was thinking of just taking them off. lol

Does anyone know how much it costs to get rims re-finished? I haven't got any idea at all. I don't even know what they call places that do that. lol

Posted by: Mkid Nov 4 2010, 03:50 AM

It seems like it would be about $200-$400 to get them painted/powder-coated hyper black.

This got me thinking...

I emailed a Rota vendor to see how much it would be to get in some Rota Torques at the same size (18X8 +35 is made by Rota, but it is kind of rare, especially here in the US)

So here is the math I'm thinking.

Drag DR-31:

$600 + ~$300 (to get the same finish as the Rotas)
= $900

Rota Torque:

~$750 + ? (the additional price of having them special ordered)
= ?

If it costs less then $200 extra to get the Rotas in, it might actually end up being a better deal to get EXACTLY what I want.

By the way, I'd like to apologize for all the double posting I've been doing in here, I am sort of using this thread as my personal brain dump for my car. Writing it down helps me remember and its good to go back and look at numbers/pictures. If anyone has a problem with it, let me know and I will cut it out. I didn't think it would do any harm because there isn't that much action in this thread anyways so its not like I'm bumping anyone out of the way.

Posted by: Helmasaur King Nov 4 2010, 03:52 AM

wider flush bro

Posted by: Mkid Nov 4 2010, 04:05 AM

I don't even know what that means!

Let me put it this way, both of these scenarios will be flush, I WILL have my car flush, so don't even worry about that.

The options were:

concave wheels

or

wider wheels

You can't really have both on my car. If you did, you'd have hella poke, the fenders just aren't deep enough. and as I stated, I'm going for FLUSH.

SO!

I'm going with the skinnier but more concave because Josh liked them more <3 I think concave wheels have a more dramatic appearance then wider wheels with no cancave where you'd have to actually look under the car to really see, especially with a drop. Also, keep in mind that the concave wheels are still a full inch wider then my stock wheels.

Posted by: Helmasaur King Nov 4 2010, 04:06 AM

f**k f**k f**k!

The guy who said 18X8 +35 would fit actually typo-ed... he meant +45... f**k!

These will rub if I go over a big bump unless I roll fenders. f**k!

the best size with the best offset I can get for these is now 18X7.5 +35... this is what they look like:

Is that even worth it?! it looks just as flat as the others. I don't understand.

Does it look any more concave then this?

I don't think so, f**k! The guys on the forum for my car weren't joking when they said my car has s**tty offset.

I think I'm just gonna get the Rotas that guy was selling... sad.gif

Posted by: Mkid Nov 4 2010, 05:13 AM

You don't understand, If I'm rubbing stock, even with a roll, I'm going to be rubbing lowered. It just f**ks up the whole plan.

Posted by: Mitch. Nov 4 2010, 05:34 AM

roll/flare the gaurds, and i reckon 18s are too small, 19s would be bette IMO

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 4 2010, 06:53 AM

18s are fine, and you hve issues if you badly want high offset, get 0 or less then you will be cool.

Posted by: Mkid Nov 4 2010, 02:20 PM

I don't want a crazy offset. Something like a +30 would probably look great in this wheel, it just doesn't fit my car. I would also prefer 19's, but then my sizing options are even more limited gasp.gif

I'm probably just going to buy these off of this guy:

Keep in mind these will look bigger on my car because this is an STI (these wheels are actually the stock STI wheel size)

I will need 5MM-10MM spacers to make them fit right and be flush, but that seems to be the best option unless I want to spend outlandish amounts of money to get Works and then have to paint them the finish I'd want... and even then, just because they fit good without spacers doesn't really mean they look any more concave as I showed with the bronze ones above, they look the same! Just not worth the time, effort, or money IMO.

What would be really cool is if I went staggered, because the problem here is with the rear wheels, everything I've mentioned fits the front just fine. Unfortunately, from what I've read, staggerred wheels will f**k up the AWD system. So spacers in the rear it is!

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 5 2010, 08:58 AM

ok.

Posted by: Ed. Nov 5 2010, 09:48 AM

Mike, Why not just get a nice set of wheels, that aren't flat, and then go to a body shop, and get your fenders rolled so they still sit within your arch? or you're complaining there about for that size "that will fit your car" you will need spacers - Then they don't fit your car. Just get wider wheels and rock a bit of concave and flushness without the spacers

Posted by: Mkid Nov 5 2010, 03:25 PM

Because there are no concave wheels for my car. That kind of offset simply doesn't fit...

This is literally about as crazy an offset you can get for my car:

and that would be with rubbing. To me... it doesn't even seem worth it. I'd rather avoid rub and have some flatter wheels because it doesn't even look that different.

Then there is this guy... he is basically the god of wheel fitment as far as ralliarts go... he had to do extensive modification to make this work:

I would love that, but unfortunately I don't want to blow that kind of money on the car and also I'm sure his ride quality is s**t now.

With little more then a retune, i can surpass the EvoX stock WHP.

Super cool, but sorry for the noob question: What's the difference between all the different HPs? (BHP, WHP, etc.)

Posted by: Mkid Nov 7 2010, 03:50 AM

BHP (Brake Horse Power) is the power the motor makes when its not connected to the transmission or anything.

WHP (Wheel Horse Power) is the power the car is actually putting down to the road (you find this out on a dyno)

and btw... I found out why its so easy to surpass the EVOXs WHP... apparently there is only (at the most) a 10 WHP different between the Ralliart and the EVO... that is probably just due to some downtuning on the EVOs side, it has to be capable of more then that with a bigger turbo... but still. kind of gives me more faith in my car. lol

Some guys are encouraging me to go through with it. some guys are giving me crap. it makes it very hard to make a decision. I wish I could get 18X8.5 +35... but those are special order and I'd have to get other people interested in getting them so we can do a group buy. Sounds like too much effort.

Posted by: .ecyrB Nov 8 2010, 03:36 PM

If the shoe fits, wear it. If it doesn't, buy spacers and spit on the Ralliart guys.

Posted by: Mkid Nov 8 2010, 03:46 PM

Like I've been saying, there are wheels that fit better... they are just super rare and expensive.

This guy has been pretty helpful considering he has the same style rims as what I want:

Hes got Work CR-Kai 18X8.5 +32

The Rota Torques can come in 18X8.5 +35... they would essentially look the same (3mm worth of offset wouldn't really be noticeable without a ruler)

But like I said... I'd have to get a few guys interested with me for the company that imports them to consider doing a group buy... and is it worth it? I mean, its slightly more concave but its still pretty flat.

To refresh your memory... this is +48:

what do you guys think? Is it worth rounding up people for a group buy? I really don't think they look different enough to be worth it, plus I'd have to roll my fenders with the +35 and wouldn't with the +48

Posted by: Mr.Acura-te Nov 8 2010, 09:58 PM

Im telling you this again get the WORK CR KAI

Posted by: Mkid Nov 8 2010, 10:46 PM

Would you spend $1,500 on a set of rims? keep in mind, this is ONLY rims, that doesn't include tires, lugs, hub rings, or TPMS sensors... all of which I'd need in addition to the rims. Plus, I think the Rota Torques look better anyways.

Posted by: Andrew Nov 8 2010, 11:17 PM

get the enkeis

Posted by: Mkid Nov 8 2010, 11:19 PM

The enkies are even more! facepalm.gif

Posted by: Josн Nov 8 2010, 11:19 PM

rotaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

and the +35 looks pretty decent, now that i've seen that pictar

Posted by: Mkid Nov 9 2010, 01:57 AM

They are definitely nicer... I'm just not sure if its worth rounding up 4 other guys + rolling my fenders for them. its really not a HUGE difference, just a little nicer. joo know mang?

tub your car

Posted by: Mkid Nov 10 2010, 01:02 AM

QUOTE (Mkid @ Nov 9 2010, 08:02 PM) *
Tubbing wouldn't fix either of those problems... lol. That would just allow me to get tires as wide as my rim is tall. lol. In order to avoid rubbing while maintaining concave, I'd have to shorten the axle thus moving the wheels further in.

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 10 2010, 02:09 AM

who cares.
get these wheels

Posted by: .ecyrB Nov 10 2010, 02:18 AM

Actually, that wouldn't look bad. In white! O DO IT!

I'd still pick the rotas... something about them.

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 10 2010, 03:04 AM

Nvm, i see..

wtf does it matter.

Posted by: J.red Nov 10 2010, 03:49 AM

I still don't know where you're getting you information that the enkeis are more than the works. I keep finding them for $50-100 less per wheel.

flattt, still think its better then the torques? lol

get Work XD9s

Posted by: J.red Nov 10 2010, 12:14 PM

Work xt7

Posted by: Mkid Nov 10 2010, 03:48 PM

I don't really like those, the XD9s are cool. This is my estimate for the size+offset for my car:

I can't find any pics of them on an evo or ralliart tho sad.gif

Posted by: Daniel. Nov 10 2010, 08:53 PM

YES GET THEM XD9s

But I'd like to see a different angle of the tx7s, I think they are pretty cool, but I'm not sure.

Posted by: Mkid Nov 10 2010, 09:19 PM

If anyone finds a pic of XD9s on a lancer of my generation, you get a cookie. double cookies if its the same color as my car.

Posted by: DMC-12 Nov 10 2010, 09:35 PM

I've seen XD9 doesnt fit the evo x because of the brake caliper. is it the same on the ralliart?

here's another view of the XT7s btw

Here is a guy with both xd.gif

Not really, there is a size that should be fine for me. It does not come in a lot of sizes so that might be why the EVO guys have trouble.

Either way... I can't say I really like it. I think I'd prefer the TE37s

Posted by: Unox. Nov 10 2010, 10:21 PM

now you gotta have TE37s, the epitome of JDM RAMZ Y0

Posted by: Mkid Nov 10 2010, 10:47 PM

I didn't say I liked the TE37s better then the Torques mind you.

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 11 2010, 06:10 AM

omfg get CRKais. they are OG

Posted by: Mkid Nov 11 2010, 06:19 AM

I won't get the CR-Kais! If I'm going for a more concave look, the +35 torques actually fit better. its the high offset, low concave CR-Kais that fit better then the closest offsetted Torques. Either way, the Cr-Kais are not worth it. lol

Honestly, I'm waiting for the dude with my car and low offset Cr-Kais to reply back to me to let me know if he has any rubbing issues even after rolling fenders. If he doesn't I'm gonna proceed to phase 2, get a group of ralliart guys to convince the dealer to import them for us.

Posted by: Daniel. Nov 13 2010, 07:59 PM

If you would go for TE37s, what color?

I have an evo x with TE37s on midnight club, I'm willing to take pics smile2.gif

It's the same color as yours toothygrin.gif

dude, if you cant pick a rim just yet, just focus on somtin else on your car, like stickers or somthin

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 17 2010, 09:07 AM

Posted by: Mkid Nov 17 2010, 07:27 PM

I'm not goin for the RPF1s anymore because the huge lip makes them look small. Look how small they look in that pic. In order to have them look how I want, I'd have to go for 19s...

I'd rather just get the Torques.

Anyways, Talked to the guy who has the CR-Kais.

this guy:

he says he had to roll his fenders but he is pretty much good now and he is lowered. only rubs on pretty major bumps while going fast. Plus, hes got some pretty fat tires and his offset is just slightly more aggressive then mine.

So I think I'm going to round up some dudes for a group buy for the Rotas that are the closest to that size/offset smile2.gif

Posted by: Ben.H Nov 17 2010, 11:27 PM

Mike, Proton are stealing your flex

Posted by: Mkid Nov 18 2010, 03:30 AM

wtf is that. it doesn't even look good. it looks like my car was further molested by an audi. lol

the trunk lid spoiler is probably the only part that i find cool

anyways, I just messaged the wheel vendor asking how to set up a group buy for my wheels since they would be special order and need sufficient interest.

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 18 2010, 08:13 AM

Posted by: Mkid Nov 18 2010, 03:49 PM

Hyper Black Rota Torques in 5x114.3 18x8.5 +35

If you meant weight... they weigh about 20-21 lbs per wheel. Pretty good actually.

Posted by: Mitch. Nov 19 2010, 10:28 PM

oh cool, so you dont have to roll your fenders? thats good, you should paint the rims lip pink or some other colour, would look pretty mint

Posted by: Mkid Nov 20 2010, 04:11 AM

I already have foglights dummy. lol

look at the first pic in this thread

Posted by: Andrew Nov 20 2010, 04:35 AM

Posted by: Mkid Nov 20 2010, 04:41 AM

Posted by: DLuZive Nov 20 2010, 12:48 PM

OMG SO TRUWWW

Posted by: Mkid Nov 20 2010, 02:48 PM

Because it was tuned by RALLIART... the tuning company. lol. They dropped an evo X block and an evo IV awd system in a regular lancer and went to town. Their only limit was to make it weaker then the evo.

And I wouldn't want to take my baby offroading, so street tuning it is. lol

Not to say others havent...

Yes that last one is a ralliart, note the lack of wide and the chrome ring around the grille

Posted by: Mkid Dec 9 2010, 07:12 AM

Long time no update.

I just ordered an HKS Super Hybrid Filter. Slight performance + gas mileage improvement. main reason for getting it: makes the turbo louder.

Sound Clip!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1oDLTbOELs

the HKS and K&N ones are said to sound/feel the same. The difference is the KnN ones last a lot longer while the HKS one is a little better for your car. I ended up going for HKS because I prefer safety for my engine over saving money and HKS is a cooler brand.

Now you might be wondering why I didn't get a cold air intake system... reason: they actually make my car run worse. the stock intake system already has a snorkel that sucks air from the front of the car. anything else would either be the same or just make stuff worse. The only real benefit to them is that they look cool in the engine bay and they make the turbo about twice as loud as the vid above. Maybe one day I'll get one just for s**ts n giggles, but its not really a priority.

Not much new as far as the wheels go. The guy who was interested in the group buy sort of disappeared. There are 2 other forums I could post at but I'm not in any rush to get the wheels so I'm just playing it cool for awhile.

Hahaha, considering I'm running plate holder-less right now, it would actually make me perform worse if anything...

anyways, a few things have come up for sale that I'm negotiating for right now:

WhiteLine rear sway bar

Ultimate-Racing cat-back exhaust system (no mini-muffler or resonator... would be loud as hell. If I end up buying it, I'd buy both extra parts elsewhere so I don't attract as much attention after its installed)

RexSpeed two pod pillar with boost guage

noooooooooooooooooo go with dash mounted.

Go loud or go home.
Nah, but if it is too loud with that exhaust, you could just throw a glass pack in there somewhere where there is a long enough portion of straight pipe.
That's kind of what I plan on doing when I do my swap. I'm going to make my own 2.5" exhaust with no cat and no baffles, and put something like a nice magnaflow, dynomax, flowmaster, or a mugen twin loop. And if it's too loud, I might put a glasspack in the straight pipe.

thats what it would sound like if I installed it as-is... a little too loud IMO.

The resonator and mini-muffler should smooth it out and make it a bit quieter.
