Pixel Car Art _ Automotive chat _ Lily the Ibiza

Posted by: Curtis Apr 12 2012, 08:50 PM

Hey guys, I would give you a massive story, but I can't be bothered right now, so i'll give you the basics. Completely standard, some minor scuffage on the front bumper and a busted indicator stalk. Door lock is different to the ignition and the remote central locking didn't work as a result. Oh, and it tried to set fire to itself after one of the HT leads decided it wouldn't insulate anymore and short out back to the distributor.
So far I have fitted the aero blades from my old Arosa, re-programmed the remote key for the car and replaced all four leads.

Phew. Now, no-one likes a pictureless topic, so here you go

Nice little cameo from the Arosa there

Did the whole re-routing the Cassette Aux cable round the back of the headunit job

I do like these seats

Surprisingly large inside

Paints not in bad nick either.

So there you go, I suppose you'll want some plans as well? Right, first of is getting it running right, probably a full service to try and bring back some lost horses, then fixing the little odds and sods like the indicator stalk, the drivers mirror (just get a stubby) and the bumper damage. After that i'll get some coils, get colour coding and replace those god awful 13's. Might try and source the rear beam from a cupra or polo GTI for discs on the back if anyone knows thats possible? Ooh, almost forgot, i'll be fitting my sub and amp combo in at some point as well, so that'll be quite high on the list.

And to finish off, a nice photoshopped plan for you to look at

Posted by: Ryousuke Apr 12 2012, 08:54 PM

Woot? You bought that?

A friend of mine sells his cousin's ABT Ibiza!

Posted by: Faяan Apr 12 2012, 09:14 PM

You like them funky ass seats, don't you toung.gif

Nice!

Posted by: Hellrazr Apr 12 2012, 09:29 PM

O.o them seats have got to be swapped lmao

Posted by: Brand0n. Apr 12 2012, 10:36 PM

cool yo

Posted by: FnF_Racer Apr 13 2012, 11:59 AM

hope the radio gets out, when the power is off.
our old Seat always played the radio, even when power was off. (same kind of console as yours.)

Lily is in nice nick, keep care of her.

Posted by: Mkid Apr 14 2012, 04:12 AM

lol agree about the seats, you like weird seats.

Get nicer wheels than what you shopped. They look like factory wheels that were rattlecanned black. Get something sportier and less cheap looking.

Posted by: Helmasaur King Apr 14 2012, 04:18 AM

Very cool, did you buy these seat covers at 99 pence mart ?

Posted by: Brand0n. Apr 14 2012, 06:27 AM

Sporty wheels would look dumb imo. OEM+ is dope. Audi wheels smile2.gif

Posted by: nhra1625 Apr 14 2012, 06:30 AM

^ bentley wheels is where its at

Posted by: Brand0n. Apr 14 2012, 06:32 AM

They're pretty ugly imo, I'm a fan of Maybach wheels, but neither of those suggestions would fit I'm pretty sure. Plus, they're not cheap lol.

Posted by: Curtis Apr 19 2012, 02:49 PM

Those wheels are the VW Estorils, only reason i want monoblocks is to hide the drum brakes at the back lol, if i got a disc conversion then 'sportier' wheels would be on the cards

Second hand wink.gif

Posted by: Curtis May 24 2012, 07:15 PM

Double post, so sue me.

Collected the coils today, looking at them, i reckon they might be the JOM Blueline coils. All in good nick, just gotta buy all the droplinks and top mounts now

Posted by: M.I.V. Design. May 24 2012, 08:43 PM

top mounts you can reuse from stock springs (on my golf i could atleast)
herd JOM aint that bad wink.gif
tape the coils in with tape and duckt tape like me if you don't want s**t with them smile2.gif

Posted by: Curtis May 24 2012, 09:12 PM

Aye but they wear over time, and on a bone stock car with 80k miles on the clock, i don't imagine they've ever been replaced!

Posted by: Curtis May 30 2012, 07:13 PM

No Lights, No flash. LED's work.

also.

this.

Still yet to settle, need to balance the heights, and need to get the alignment sorted as well.

Posted by: Curtis May 30 2012, 10:24 PM

What? Too high? Too low? As I said they're still settling so they're a bit lower now

Posted by: Curtis Jun 1 2012, 12:34 PM

So this happened:

Then this happened.

Tyres aren't completely shot yet, but i've put the 13's back on for the time being. Why do alloys command so much money?!

Posted by: M.I.V. Design. Jun 19 2012, 04:29 PM

thats what you get for running phat tires wink.gif

Posted by: Mkid Jun 21 2012, 04:29 AM

phat tires are awesome. I plan to run lower offset with wider tires because I'm ballsy like that.

Posted by: M.I.V. Design. Jun 21 2012, 07:33 AM

also i like the way that the jom coils have a thread all the way down <3
fu ta technix

Posted by: Curtis Jul 14 2012, 10:00 PM

kinda abandoned the thread lol

Old wheels back on, fully tinted lights and de-badging

Smoked the front badge, yet to do the rear

Put new alloys on

Rolled the arches

Got my spec sheet for Inters

Couple of the shots from Inters

So yeah, thats where I am thus far

No I don't*

At the height I am currently the car scrapes the front bumper on the dropped curb outside my flat, physically cannot go any lower

Posted by: Curtis Aug 10 2012, 01:21 PM

Posted by: Zwaag Aug 10 2012, 02:56 PM

gotta have a couple wood boards handy, then you can make it less steap. I remember when my brothers freind did that to get his accord in the carwash one time, lol.

Edit, also, wish you lived closer, I think the rims I got in the shed would look sick on your car, lol. And they are just getting wasted.

Posted by: AndrewGMC Aug 11 2012, 04:37 PM

why no le handbrake angle correction?!?!

Posted by: Curtis Aug 11 2012, 06:40 PM

The point i was getting at is that i can't approach the drive at an angle to get the car off the curb.

Just got offered a set of these for the 3 spokes, or cash in hand. I'm still yet to get tyres for my hairpins. What do!?

Posted by: Mkid Sep 6 2012, 05:10 PM

I like those better, get em

Posted by: Curtis Sep 6 2012, 05:44 PM

or do i get the cash and get tyres for these

Posted by: Mkid Sep 6 2012, 07:03 PM

Depends on the look you want to go for. The others are more trend-whorish/VIP wheels. but I think the hairpins look more OEM+

Posted by: Dj-san Sep 6 2012, 11:52 PM

I think you should do the trade, those other rims look nicer.

Posted by: Mkid Oct 6 2012, 05:27 AM

Why weren't you using these before? I don't remember.

BTW, these remind me of the Acura Enkeis I got for my civic back in the day that ended up having the wrong bolt pattern dry.gif

Posted by: Curtis Oct 6 2012, 04:06 PM

The tyre sizes were wrong, they were from a much bigger car, these tyres are now slightly smaller than standard

not sure whether to get bigger spacers, or just rock the tuner tuck

Posted by: DMC-12 Oct 6 2012, 04:46 PM

I'd go for spacers, but personally I Really like a mean stance toung.gif Especially on the rear

Posted by: Mkid Oct 6 2012, 09:45 PM

Alternatively, you could save up your money to get wheels that fit how you want.

Posted by: Curtis Oct 6 2012, 09:54 PM

Thats not an option with oem wheels, you get the size they came in or nothing at all wink.gif

Posted by: Mkid Oct 8 2012, 08:21 PM

Why do you need oem wheels?

Posted by: Curtis Oct 8 2012, 09:26 PM

Aftermarkets come in 2 forms, Expensive, or ugly as hell. Oem wheels are cheap and look good in most cases. Just they all come in 'sensible' fitments. These ones are 16x6.5 et45. Fairly standard for a fwd sports hatch

Posted by: Mkid Oct 8 2012, 09:39 PM

Get some Konigs bro. Although they might be more expensive in the UK cuz they are made in america :/. The set I got was like 600 usd but they would be too big for your car anyways so they would be cheaper sized for this.

Posted by: nhra1625 Oct 8 2012, 09:45 PM

get these

they are OEM trollolololm[1].png

Posted by: Curtis Oct 9 2012, 08:29 AM

Really chuffed with how they both came out smile2.gif

Posted by: J.red Jan 12 2013, 03:50 AM

the led's are cool. But HID's in normal halogen housing without projectors is one thing that will always annoy me. It creates an incredible glare for oncoming vehicles and is more really just effective at being really overly bright rather than creating better visibility.

+1
but they look cool, I have to admit

Posted by: Curtis Jan 12 2013, 05:04 PM

That did worry me at first, but after driving with them, and checking the beam pattern (I have a nice flat wall in my compound) the glare isn't all that bad to be honest. To help things i've set the beam height to as low as they will go for the time being. Passed 3 police cars today and not one of them reacted, so its cool smile2.gif

Haven't got any pics because nope but I had a big update over the weekend ^_^ Stubby mirror and a full audio overhaul, all the standard speakers replaced with decent units. Only 250w all round but un-amped so they sound great plugged direct from the headunit. Had them maxxed earlier with no distortion at all, really chuffed toothygrin.gif Other than that I'm doing a deal with a guy I know, switching my hairpins with his standard alloys part ex. Will use them as my spare wheels so I can get rid of those godawful steelies, and will be buying a proper set of alloys when I find something I really like

Almost like a log of my work this, just talking to myself toung.gif

firstly the standards I took after part-exing the hairpins

Yeah instafag, what you gonna do toung.gif Going to be rocking these until either something really cool comes along, or a certain special set i'm looking at come up for sale wink.gif

Really like these atm:

Cades Blast, 15x8 et20. £360 brand new no tyres. Really want a set but i can't justify that sort of money at the minute sad.gif

However, for £300 I could get a mk3 golf gti 16v. I very nearly bought one this weekend but I realised I have nowhere to put it until I do the swap in may time >.< if i find another one cheap though i should hopefully have an abf before inters

finally, actual update

Posted by: carhartt Mar 16 2013, 06:37 AM

your mot seems not that strict to be honest, over here they would have killed you for a small (maybe a little more, but nothing rotten trough or going to rot through in the next 2 years in any way) amount of surface rust ohmy.gif

Posted by: Curtis Mar 16 2013, 08:33 AM

Its about general safety of the car really. Some body rust doesn't matter, as the car wont fall apart, but structural stuff like what i have will fail as the car could collape if left untreated. There are some other paint in the ass ones like 'sharp protrusions' which can also cover rust to an extent; its anything that you could cut yourself on if you brushed past it. Then theres simple stuff like 'adequate clearances' where the wheels, tyres and associated components need to have enough room to move about in the arch without touching anything. Its so easy to get an MoT though, not falsified, just people that have the power can give you an MoT without really checking it, but then that can lead to some really unsafe cars on the road, so i'd rather get a failed MoT on an alright car than a pass on a shed.

99p bumper on ebay, winner! Just got to make the splitter fit now. Thinking if i trim the upper flaps off i can heat it up and bend it round, then plastic weld it all in place. any other ideas?

Posted by: _RX7 _ Mar 25 2013, 11:48 AM

Id say your idea is probably your best bet.

Posted by: J.red Mar 25 2013, 10:11 PM

that looks like a civic replica lip.

Posted by: Curtis Mar 26 2013, 08:55 AM

Posted by: TribalThunder Mar 26 2013, 09:00 AM

Posted by: J.red Mar 26 2013, 10:54 AM

Posted by: Curtis Mar 26 2013, 11:40 AM

cars turning into a pimp moblie

Posted by: _RX7 _ Mar 28 2013, 05:59 AM

Its very close to the lip I was going to get for the silvia if I kept the normal turbo bar.

Posted by: Curtis Apr 2 2013, 09:59 AM

Lowered it

Then cleaned it.

Can't help but look at the photo and think it should go down more, but this is as low as is practical for where i'm living atm, maybe when i've moved out in july wink.gif

Posted by: _RX7 _ Apr 2 2013, 10:48 AM

Looks good man, and i know that feel.

I could go lowere where I am not having to many scrape issues, but due to the way the inner arch is I cant sad.gif

Posted by: Mkid Apr 3 2013, 12:36 AM

I want to go lower in the front but I also want to buy a lip... I too am torn.

Posted by: J.red Apr 3 2013, 01:07 AM

Why not both?

Posted by: Mkid Apr 3 2013, 01:05 PM

I scrape as it is. Lower in front + $500 lip = waste of $500

Posted by: Curtis Apr 3 2013, 05:04 PM

then buy a cheap replica like i did for £20 good.gif

in other news, day out in the sun toung.gif

Posted by: Mkid Apr 3 2013, 05:07 PM

They don't make replicas.

Posted by: Curtis Apr 3 2013, 05:19 PM

Make one then.

Posted by: AndrewGMC May 24 2013, 12:00 AM

do it curtis

Posted by: Curtis May 31 2013, 10:59 AM

Some photo's from last weeks meet

Successfully chipped some paint off a speed bump

#lowlife

fitted some spacers for moar stance

Need to lose the bump stops to close the gap between arch and tyre

and finally, a nice before and after shot

Posted by: J.red May 31 2013, 02:37 PM

Removing the bump stop is one of the worst things you could do. Allowing your shocks to bottom out is absolutely terrible on just about every component of the suspension. Get some proper monotype coil overs or some aftermarket shocks.

Posted by: Curtis May 31 2013, 07:35 PM

The shocks are already f**ked, i'm aware of the implications of shortening the bump stops, i'm just ignoring them wink.gif

Posted by: Henrique. May 31 2013, 08:35 PM

wash this thing man, get new plates... car looks all beaten up like this :/

Posted by: Curtis May 31 2013, 08:54 PM

The car is beaten up lol, there's no point polishing a turd xd.gif

Posted by: Henrique. May 31 2013, 08:59 PM

Nah man, it isn't... mine is 10x worse and I still take care of it... at least make those wheels shine again, and keep the dirt away from it, pretty sure it would look 10x better... you're a gearhead dude, you enjoy cars, act like so!! toothygrin.gif

Posted by: Curtis Jun 25 2013, 06:26 PM

Sudennly! Foglights!

They don't work.

Suddenly! Black Badge!

Its sprayed s**t.

Suddenly! No arch gap!

The fronts still have 2 fingers worth of gap.

Posted by: DLuZive Jun 26 2013, 02:07 AM

wow havent looked in here for a while, very cool

Posted by: Madset. Jun 28 2013, 06:50 AM

can still fit finger in gap

and you say no gap

wtf is this

Posted by: Mkid Jun 28 2013, 05:37 PM

I'll leave this here for you:

Posted by: Nick47 Jun 28 2013, 05:40 PM

yeah i think the arch gap would be less noticeable with less stretched tyres

Posted by: Henrique. Jun 28 2013, 08:35 PM

less stretched tires it would look mexipoke too much. and mike, damn, you roll like that or the car is up somewhere or on a driveway, or something? gasp.gif

Posted by: Mkid Jun 28 2013, 08:51 PM

On driveway with loaded trunk toung.gif

I've rubbed before taking a fast turn with people in the backseat. lol

Posted by: Victor. Jun 28 2013, 09:00 PM

Posted by: Ben.H Jun 29 2013, 02:34 AM

if that civic was lower and had white walls i swear

Posted by: Madset. Jun 30 2013, 03:55 AM

rim lip touching guard or you might as well just leave it standard

Posted by: Curtis Aug 21 2013, 10:12 AM

So then, i've been a bit quiet lately. A lot has happened.

Got my fogs and indicators all re-wired
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10201561594112777&set=o.2210814918&type=2&theater

Went to Inters with everyone, had an excellent time

Got my boot install rebuilt

And then my pedal box collapsed.

Got that replaced and back on the road, for the battery to die on me as the brake pedal didn't return fully, leaving the lights on.

Needed to get the bumper and splitter out of my parents house, so with a drill and some zipties, mashed that on as well

The budget box is starting to take shape now toung.gif

Posted by: Madset. Aug 22 2013, 07:26 AM

Sweet

Pink zip ties are cooler though

Posted by: Kubason Aug 23 2013, 11:41 PM

sitting really nicely. I also really like those rims. what rims are they and how big are they (sorry if you posted that before, I was too lazy to make a research)

Posted by: Curtis Aug 25 2013, 08:46 AM

They're Cades Blast's, 15x8 et20. Got a 20mm spacer at the back and a 10mm at the front.

Posted by: Curtis Aug 26 2013, 10:50 AM

Plenty of life in them yet.

Yeah they had to come off, picking up new tyres tonight

Posted by: Kubason Aug 26 2013, 11:07 AM

if they only made those rims in 14", too :C

Posted by: Curtis Aug 26 2013, 11:52 AM

Its a fairly common design, there must be someone that makes them in 14" form

Posted by: Curtis Sep 1 2013, 09:06 AM

New tyres are now on and the fronts are wound down as far as they will go now, really happy with how she sits at this point.

This is not to say it has been plain sailing at that height >.<

Easily fixed though xd.gif
