Yeah, I live walking distance from the Tampa bay so that sea air really has an effect on things.

Also, whenever there is a hurricane, most of the roads around my house flood so if I want to get out, I have to drive through sea water :-/

My hood is mostly the same as an Evo hood. Cosmetically it is exactly the same. The evo one is slightly lighter though because the whole thing is made of aluminum. Mine is mostly aluminum but has some steel parts still.

Are those lugnuts aluminum? If so, that could have caused some issue. Aluminum lugnuts should be rechecked for torque more frequently, you should NEVER use an impact gun with aluminum lugnuts, and if you take them on and off often, they wear out a whole lot quicker.

Either way, it sucks that it happened.

    Wise words!

But on aluminum wheels you should never use the impact gun, properly maintained and with a good air supply you can get 400-500 torques out of those suckers and that might squeze the aluminum.

And you should check the bearing and swing shaft aswell depending on the speed and time you were driving with the broken lugs. The unbalance in the wheels attachment points to the assembly might have made a mess there aswell.

They are forged steel which is probably part of the reason why they got stuck on there so bad. Also, I always torque them by hand.

Everything seemed fine after I put it all back together. On friday I installed hubcentric rings and matching lug nuts again. Sunday I inspected the back of my bakes, suspension and tires. One of the bushings in the suspension came loose on that side probably from all the vibration but that isn't really a huge issue. I put it back in place and tightened it back up again just to be safe. I also noticed my rear tires have pretty bad camber wear so I will need to get those changed out in the next few weeks. Other than that, no issues that I could see.

More pics from the meet that my wheel almost fell off at:

    (IMG:https://scontent-b-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/q75/s720x720/1479299_656525154391337_1072857103_n.jpg)

It looks like I was just standing by not doing anything and being "that guy" who doesn't know anything about cars :-[

The reality is, when you pull up to an evo meet and your wheel is wobbling and making a ton of noise, a bunch of car guys surround you car and start attacking it with wrenches without you asking like its a gangbang. lol

I did manage to get one rolling shot in before I retired from the cruise in fear of my wheel falling off.

Newest pic of my car is not really of my car. They took a pic of my friends Corvette but I'm in the background and another Evo buddy in front of me and Audi S4 bud in front of him.
