can we make this board more friendly for newer members, like having the tutorial thread and parts section at the top of the board in big bold letters so that its so easy to find that you'd have to be blind to miss it? or something like that?
just a thought. |

Above the shoutbox (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) They ask how to make a car in the shoutbox as soon as they join.

^ He's got this.
Edit: Also, I agree, this site could use some more newbie friendly features. This post has been edited by J.red: Aug 8 2010, 04:15 AM |

Very cool, no, I didn't suggest that. the idea of the shout box is to have public discussion where the users don't have to wait a while or whatever, like you'd need to if you post on the forum. if you don't want to see new members asking questions that most of you older members asked before, then talk to these people on some other thing. everyone in the group member or higher should be able to use the shoutbox, even validating members might be good, or at least let them post in a help forum

Keep the shoutbox where it is i think.
But maybe, make the tutorials section easier to find. Like right now, it's a sub-section of "pixel help." think maybe tutorials should be its own section on the main page either in the "lobby" section or in the "information desk" section. And then, if the tutorials could somehow be organized so it's easier for newer members to browse through them and find what they want. Also, the sticky'd carbon fiber tutorial doesn't even work. It has a broken image. And maybe something like FAQ section would also be something helpful. |

Maybe if we put together a whole write-up of FAQs and send it to the Admin, the next time he's on, all he would have to do is c/p it and set up a new section for it.

either way, if we do the work as far as writing it all up, i'm sure he's more likely to finish the job for us than if we just go to him with "WE WANT A FAQ SECTION"

yeah, i mean, we can get it all together, like a database of tutorials and stuff. pixel car world did that too, but the admin stole everything, so it doesn't really count

its not so much how many tutorials there are, its moreso the fact that im suggesting that we move them in a more eye catching location for newer people, that way everybody is happier.
