Pixel Car Art _ Automotive chat _ dat 1UZ

Posted by: Ben.H Jul 8 2011, 06:58 PM

So my dad's Alfa was knackered, as Alfas usually are. So he swapped it for a car he's wanted for nigh on 20 years. The almighty Lexus LS400, with added 1UZ-FE

It's a 1996 in the weirdest colour ever, it looks navy from a distance but it looks like a dark green from up close. It's madness, I can't believe my dad's managed to bag something which was £45k or something like that brand new for just over £1,000, would also say it's the comfiest car I've ever been in. Plans are some lowering, wheels and removing all that orange.

Added 1uz?

Is that like adding a 2j to an SC300? toung.gif

As a car enthusiast, you'll learn to love depreciation

get massive deepdish chromes and mass amounst of camber and mass amounts of low.

Posted by: Ben.H Jul 9 2011, 08:07 PM

Oh! I nearly forgot to mention this car's best feature, it has a 90s-tastic green interior. Sounds naff but I must admit it does look quite good, it's a subtle shade, I'll get some photos whenever my dad's back.

At least you can get some models of this one ;D

lol, the 1uz is more than adequate for drifitng.. A 1j swap would be just like handing away all the torque

What he said ^

The engine in this car is phenomenal. My dad just took me out for a cruise while the roads were empty. Popped the gearbox in "Sport mode" (Faster kick down, sharper throttle response and revs all the way to the redline before changing), and booted it from a 50mph roll, within seconds we were going well over 100 with no effort whatsoever.

I love this thing, 179,000 miles and goes like new

ben you make me covet gasp.gif

1uz v8 up in dis playse

does it sound grunty?

Posted by: Ben.H Jul 10 2011, 11:53 PM

It sounds grunty, very muffled though. Sitting in this car is weird, it's ridiculously quiet, normal driving you can't hear the engine at all, but under hard accelerating you can definitely hear some V8-ness

They'll always surprise you, lol. I drove a second gen one basically every day for a few months and it was an absolute blast

England is cheap, I wanna live thar

Posted by: Curtis Jul 18 2011, 12:27 PM

no. no it isn't.

Posted by: Ben.H Jul 18 2011, 12:57 PM

Cars are cheap to buy, it's insuring them, and putting petrol in them, and taxing them, and servicing them...

Besides I know for a fact that Alfa needs at least £200's worth of work to the suspension

Posted by: AndrewGMC Jul 18 2011, 01:09 PM

i found expensive buying a car, if what ben says is correct, paying for it will be virtually impossible sad.gif
