Another weekend spent at car. Today focus was at front suspension

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130331_zpsd30f0519.jpg)

Very bad condition, backslashes?? (dunno how at english) everywhere, suspension plays like drunk russian

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130334_zpsfe5a84ea.jpg)

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130356_zps14029685.jpg)

Front brakes, not self-adjustable, decided to replace brake cylinders to Gaz-24 one's (self-adjustable). Still be worst car brakes ever made.

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130378_zps6306dffd.jpg)

First layer of primer was made at evening

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130401_zpsa4ca0d5e.jpg)

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130403_zps06dd4612.jpg)

Tomorrow front suspension will be fully painted. Ordered some bushings, hope finish front suspension built next weekend.

@Kuba
Calculated total cost of restoration. I expect it around 5000$ or a bit more, of course if i do most of work myself, except paintjob, but who knows, i could try it too.

Total (3/11/13)
Money spent: 560$
Work spent: 79 man-hours

If you decided to restore classic car in Russia, you gonna have a bad time. Anyways this weekend i'll look for another 21 Volga to get extra spare parts from it and later put in V8 ZMZ big block.

so are you V8 swapping it? And how are you going to repair the rust, like are you getting authentic replacement segments or are you sheet metal rewelding?

Authentic replacement segments is too expensive for me, and there is one problem - they dont fit because of low quality soviet press forming and each car was individual lol. There is not much part that can be replaced without customization.

V8 will be on another car (3rd series), which i hope to get at this sunday. My 2nd series "Shark" is rare (not much as first "Star") than 3rd series "Whalebone", thats why i dont want to make any mods on it.

Was too cold to work on the body, so i decided spent free time to the interior.

My first interior expirience. Firstly, seats was stripped off

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130706_zps50f47aa6.jpg)
(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130707_zps724f0eb3.jpg)

Then painted

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130715_zps49f4820a.jpg)
(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/Gaz%2021/P1130714_zps5e06d9d7.jpg)

Here you can see rear seat layout

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/P1130720_zps21919d68.jpg)

Seat frames covered by felt/numdah (dunno how is more correct)

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/P1130723_zps391712d1.jpg)
(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/P1130724_zps22fd98ff.jpg)

Next step is gluing layers

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/P1130725_zps63d18707.jpg)

Last moment - all seat is covered by sintepone to make seat smooth before put covers in (poor pic, at other side it covered too)

(IMG:http://i1172.photobucket.com/albums/r573/MycaSG/P1130740_zps45151ebc.jpg)

So we get:
- frame
- felt
- 40 mm porolon
- sintepon
- ????
- PROFIT!

Covers made by seamstress. I'll make pics tomorrow. Paid for work and materials approx. 200$. That's nice price imo. Actually seats is done, but still need to finish front seats back.

Easy as 2+2. Now take your lazy ass off the computer and go to make some sweet bucket seats for your car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
