FWD = Crap

But if I had to have something FWD, I'd get a Honda! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gasp.gif)

And their RWD stuff isn't bad (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toung.gif)

I found this epic text but it was in spanish myabe the translation isnt the best but I give my 100% (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toung.gif) so.. READ IT!!!
please (IMG:style_emoticons/default/super.gif)

I donĀ“t remeber when i began to fell that exciment for high rev NA engines. but lately everything under 6000 RPM is just ordinary and these days turbocharged engines are just bad , just an easy and cheao solution to get BHP from engines without using his full potential.
(IMG:http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/6566/copiadepepe121.jpg)
Is it true that a turbo engine has the ability to awake your darkest desires but it doesnt has the sensation the feeling of a NA engine: without delay, a NA engine is an extension of your right foot, the fruition of your desires as quickly as the laws of physics allow.
(IMG:http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/4978/dsc0157dx11.jpg)
The current trend, following the rise in oil prices and the strict antipollution standards, is the downsizing of the engines; which is forcing manufacturers to turn to turbocharge engines to maintain power to the average user has become accustomed. Although not always so: in the old continent for many years the best manufacturers in the world (Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Aston Martin ...) have worked to get the most advanced air propulsion market, but in many cases, simply prohibitive prices for most of us.
(IMG:http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/5608/21097542450f62e76f01o1.jpg)
But all is not lost. In the land of the rising sun, more specifically in the city of Tokyo, since 1948, a small independent manufacturer gives us generation after generation what are probably the best affordable sports on the planet. I'm talking about Honda and the creations of their racing department and R & (IMG:style_emoticons/default/gasp.gif) the saga Type-R, R for Racing. This is his story.
(IMG:http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1162/1876889835270d36c6761.jpg)
While the first Type-R did not see the light until the nineties of last century, the legend was forged long before. Soichiro Honda, after years of manufacturing motorcycles and light vehicles, decided that the future of your company should necessarily entail getting wins in the premier class of international racing: Formula 1. In 1963 Honda introduced the RA270, paradoxically (FIA rules), with a 1.5 L turbocharged. In less than 2 years would win his first Grand Prix (Mexico '65) (HELL YEAH!!!!!) with a development called RA272 thanks to Honda's fuel injection system, which worked exceptionally well in the conditions of low air density (due to altitude) given in the Latin American country.
(IMG:http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/474/1ca642b092fc2d570x3811.jpg)
Nearly thirty years later, would be born the first version Type-R in commemoration of Honda's first victory in Formula 1. And you would on the basis of one of the best sports car racing history: NSX (for some of these acronyms we have a special meaning and I, personally, still it gives me the creeps just hearing them).
(IMG:http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/4140/31534001835ffef751b61.jpg)
The NSX was designed with one purpose: to demonstrate Japan's supremacy over the rest of the planet, which by then was reduced to Modena (Ferrari), St. Agatha (Lamborghini), Stuttgart (Porsche) and perhaps Detroit, the birthplace of American motorsports. This is simply not expense was spared, let's see.

NSX-R
The Honda NSX, born in 1990, was the first production car in the world built entirely of aluminum, mid-engine (3.0 V6) and suspensions or arm triangle in A (as a formula). Its cornering speed was simply stratospheric for the time and in 1992 scored in the twisty Tsukuba circuit (the usual Best Motoring or Gran Turismo will know well) a time of 1:08,74. But not content with that (in Japan were already very very fast car: RX-7, Skyline, Silvia ...), launched in 1993 Type-R version.
(IMG:http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/6323/nsxwallpaper1.jpg)
Among other things had tires 225/50 R16 rear and 205/50 R15 front, that even today we may look with laughter at that time and due to the lightness of the car were quite respectable measures, separate tanks for oil cooling of shock absorbers, flat bottom and diffuser to improve the flow of air through the vehicle's ...
(IMG:http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/4449/nsx11.jpg)
The tuning of the suspension was carried out in collaboration with the triple world champion Ayrton Senna Formula 1, who was then running for the brand at McLaren-Honda. The NSX-R was 70 kg lighter than the version from which derived, inter alia, achieved by eliminating the air conditioning, power windows, replace the seats for a spectacular carbon-fiber buckets signed by RECARO and included details such as the shift lever in titanium and a special table with the Type-R up to 9000 rpm tachometer!

(IMG:http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/6048/galleryarticleshondansx.jpg)

But the real star of this car is its engine, known internally by Honda as C30 AR was a V6 3 Liter (3.2 soon after) which developed "officially" 280 hp, and I say officially because Japan was then a law by which any car built in that country may exceed 180 km / h or 280 hp. However, as we shall see the sporting Honda engines are characterized by specific powers surreal, often well above the mythical barrier of 100CV/litro, which suggests that the propeller was to deliver between 320 and 330 hp .

The formula used by Honda to make engines capable of developing such specific powers and turn over 8000 turns is worth mentioning: the powertrain elements forged aluminum, ultra races and especially a distribution system that marked an era.

The VTEC (Valve Timing Electronic Control) is a system that has endured to this day with different evolutions but retains the same philosophy: a low and medium engine speeds the movement of valves that provide the camshafts is necessary for proper functioning, providing a generous amount of torque and a smooth ride but after a certain VTEC system employs the third cam camshaft into operation by allowing more crossover between the intake valves and exhaust. This additional levy is controlled electronically, it is more aggressive than normal and the engine literally transforms into a true racing engine, with high brutal power and can send you to the madhouse.

Another of the strengths of the NSX-R was the gearbox, for many years until it appeared the Porsche Carrera GT box, was the absolute reference manual gearboxes: ultrashort tours, perfect touch, synchronizers titanium ... simply unique.

The 2002 generation was especially desired. In rigorous Grand Prix White, the official color Type R in honor of the Formula 1 cars of the mid-60s, measuring tire adapted to the times and on the old Nurburgring lap stoping the cronos time in an impressive 7: 56,733, ie, almost like a Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge Stradalle, a 996 Turbo or Corvette Z06, cars with 100 hp more and 10 years younger.

Integra TYPE-R
For those not familiar with this car will start by saying that the phrases used by journalists to define it were pearls as: "a front-wheel formula" or "understeer simply does not exist"
(IMG:http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/16/copiadel118aeadad78d4e2.jpg)
The first-generation Integra R DC2 called, was introduced in 1995 although it is known as '96 Spec (later there would be an '98 Spec).

SiR-down version of that derived integrates the Type-R version were many differences, at the Body a new front spoiler and a generously sized rear spoiler optimize the aerodynamics at high speed. The tires were specific action sports tires 195/55 R15, mounted a bar between front suspension turrets to improve chassis rigidity, also included new reinforcements back under the trunk floor that improved rigidity and helped to avoid understeer and as thicker stabilizer, bigger discs, dampers adjustable both in height and hardness, and double triangles and regular weight loss that left the car in about 1015 Kg starving in scale. Today, the Clio Sport or VW Golf R32 boast of riding RECARO bucket type seats, the Integra Type-R 95 standard equipment as well as the same knob titanium NSX-R or a tachometer that marked a stratospheric 10,000 rpm.
(IMG:http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/3389/2eamogh1.png)

But the really spectacular about this car was the engine. The B18C, as called on Honda, was a 1.8-liter DOHC developed, eye to data, 200 hp at 8000 rpm and torque of 18.5 kgm at 7500 rpm! Course was equipped with the VTEC variable valve timing and cutting injection was located beyond 8500 rpm. Let us pause to analyze these data: the almighty Ferrari 355 the same year developed 108 bhp / liter of a V8 (inherently more balanced than the Honda line 4) while the Integra was developing 110 hp / liter with a reliability that could not Ferrari presume. The engines, which were derived from more streamlined version SiR (170 hp) were assembled by hand one by one after having polished the seats and ducts of the intake and exhaust valves also on hand, with what it achieved important improve flow of gases within the combustion chamber, particularly speaking of such high speeds when there is time to produce the combustion of the mixture. It is said that every unit that left the factory Honda was losing money, but sometimes the honor or prestige are more important than a bunch of money.

(IMG:http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/3798/3600310252b739edf40o1.jpg)
Version 98 introduced some aerodynamic improvements, wider wheels in 205/45 R16 and though weighed 30 kg more, managed to do the 400 meters under 15 seconds, this was because the exchange rate was shortened further ( the 96 and was shorter than the SiR) and the cut was probably some at 9000 rpm. To further increase the strength of this vehicle, the cornering speed, the shock absorbers were improved in the race long. The gearbox and could not be otherwise was very good.
(IMG:http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/9221/dc21.jpg)
The Integra Type-R was a real race / client, a car born to reach the soul, with an engine screaming at almost 9000 rpm, barely 1000 Kg and a limited slip differential Torsen she was preparing to anchor the front axle ground as if your life depended on it.
(IMG:http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9221/dc21.jpg)
ItĀ“s strange to look in the mirror and not see a central cage roll bars obstructing the view of the large rear wing that collapsed the image of anyone who dare to make funny of it, if you can can catch it. A car capable of stopping the chronometer the Tsukuba circuit in 1:09.16.
(IMG:http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/7857/dsc15871.jpg)

Civic Type R
The first Civic Type R "official" was based on Ek9, which was the 6th generation Civic and was manufactured from 1996 to 2000 and I say official because there were 2 versions very fast, the EF9 SiR EG6 SiR , which, although not marked with the logo Type R, were very very fast and are fairly priced today.
(IMG:http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/2016/htup080709z1991hondaciv.jpg)
But back to the version born in 1997, I can only say it was exactly what was expected, a real Gianthunter. It was strange to see him face to face fight against Subaru Impreza GT Turbo or Nissan Skyline R-32 in Japan are legion. The only downside was when the of the torn and slow corners where the pavement did not have much grip because cornering speed, as has been common being the creations of Honda, was the fastest level.

It is not surprising because the chassis was tuned in Honda's private circuit was designed along the same premises as the old Nurburgring circuit and being therefore one of the most demanding circuits on the planet. Among other things had adjustable suspension, brakes of larger diameter than the version from which derived (EK4 SiR), thicker stabilizer, etc..

Regarding the exterior design, the majority of the Civic which left the Honda factory so white Hici Grand Prix White "(the end of its life cycle also be able to gain in yellow and black) with the same color wheels . The interior had the usual and RECARO seats (the same as the Integra) that had two holes on the back to shoulder height harnesses specifically designed to use four anchor points, plus all usual instruments "made in Type-R

The propeller was mounted the same as that of his brother the Integra series only this time, in order to qualify the car for the N1 (maximum racing preparation of aspirated engines up to 1600 cc) engine capacity was reduced up to 1595 cc, clear that if he did not want to compete with Honda, for about $ 900 you reconverted at 1.8 liters, which was quite common. Anyway, with only 1.6 liter developed 185 hp at 8200 rpm making it in what is probably the mass production engine of 1.6 liters more angry, sharp and exciting that have ever built. As a telling detail about the character of the engine, maximum torque (16.3 kgm) at 7500 rpm gave him! That is the area theoretically use the drive train between maximum torque and maximum power was only 700 rpm. Slightly less than a switch / off if not for the variable distribution that would get a middle / low acceptable. The injection was cut in a shocking 8500 rpm.

The gearbox was exactly the same, with the same exchange relations even than the Integra Type-R, essential when you have an engine so to play "hot zone" to keep it up, apart from hands, cash is needed fast, accurate and exchange relations with very tight.

S2000
Generally I do not like convertibles, the loss of rigidity of the chassis and therefore its negative consequences when driving are inevitable in any car that is designed as a coupe and at some point in their life cycle becomes a convertible.
(IMG:http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/4960/motivefeaturespoonsport.jpg)
But the S2000 is different, was designed to be so, it was designed to hear the raindrops as they hit the canvas roof on a rainy night, was designed for its pilot, yes, mate, I enjoyed every minute, every second Each sigh.
(IMG:http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9112/brianjeongjdm2006hondas.jpg)
Maybe it's a romantic, but it is a car of before, a car for "men" with no traction or stability control: a steering wheel, three pedals and 250 hp at the rear axle controlled by your right foot and slip differential limited to help with the excesses.
(IMG:http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/8169/jdms200011.jpg)
(IMG:http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/3626/s2000111.jpg)
(IMG:http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/1267/jdms20001.jpg)

At Honda, the engine department defined the propeller as a gift to be made themselves, something that would not be repeated ever, worth an engine placed in the foyer of your home, a work of art. However he was awarded as the best engine in the world by the International Engine of the Year in the category of 1.8 to 2 liters from 2000 to 2004.
He was also chosen by the magazine Top Gear car how best 3 consecutive years (2004.2005 and 2006)

Some might think we're crazy, that an inanimate object can not provide so much pleasure, and they may be right, if you were not born with gasoline in the veins may never get to understand, but I really think you can resist seeing again and again the tachometer of the car beyond 8? 8 8000 RPM, of course.

I've come to realize that some people hate on hondas just because they create this huge stereotype based on all the kids who buy a honda and bolt on a loud exhaust, bore out their cat, or bolt a turbo kit on an otherwise stock engine and run around their town driving like idiots...THIS IS NOT ALL HONDA OWNERS...I know there are few and far between, but some honda owners do actually know what they are doing and they don't drive around the streets like little boy ricers.

Wow Andrew, I've never heard such a brilliant argument.

and jred, I know that a few Hawnduh owners do it "right" but then those are the guys that are complete douchebags. There are only a small few exceptions to that. I know of two Hawnduh owners that I actually enjoy talking to and know wtf they're doing. And trust me, I've tried to talk to alot of Hawnduh owners, tried to gain respect for them, tried to understand them, and 90% of them are just plain stupid and say stuff like Andrew said.
