Pixel Car Art _ PCA News _ Animated avatars and signatures

Hey guys,

Before it becomes an issue can we please keep the size of images in avatars and signatures down. I don't mean the pixel size, I mean 3MB animations with 150 frames, etc. The rule of thumb would be anything more than about 400kb is probably getting too big, especially in avatars.

I'm sure there's an "awesome animations" thread somewhere to share these and I have no issue with those - it's just that when you go to load a bunch of different pages and you're chewing up your download on signatures that you don't really care about, or have seen it 100 times, it's not worth the download biggrin.gif

Warnings won't be handed out, that's just a bit overkill, but if you can keep it in mind that'd be great.

PS: I am aware of the "don't show signatures" option, so no one needs to point it out to me tongue.gif We need to make sure there's not inappropriate material tongue.gif

BUMP

I'm still finding signature and avatar animations well over a meg. Please review yours and see it falls within the guidelines above. I've been removing a lot as I see them but every day it seems more appear than I'm removing.

Hi Guys,

The email sent about this topic went to everyone - I didn't target it to only the offenders. Thanks to everyone who've either checked the sizes of their avatar/sigs and those who've since updated appropriately.

Bump, after finding an EIGHT.4 megabyte signature animation This needs to be brought up again.

rememember people not everyone has a fast internet, .5 megabytes should be an easy enoughf limit to follow on signature size. i'm sure we've sent a few warnings out and i already took action by removing some of the biggest animated sigs and this is basicly a general warning that other big animations will be removed if deemed to big.
