"Dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder"

shifty.gif

I think some things need to be changed.

Posted by: _Kevin_ Feb 24 2011, 06:03 PM

Yea my radio cost more than my car...

Guess I got pull it out shifty.gif

Posted by: Mkid Feb 24 2011, 09:07 PM

Also, random thought... the evo pic I posted has 2 different sets of tires... but it looks like a manufacturers photo... wtf?

Posted by: J.red Feb 24 2011, 09:12 PM

really, there's no reason for the evo to have a dual exhaust. It's an inline 4. the only type of 4 cylinder that could have a legit dual exhaust that I can think of would be a N/A subaru with independent headers. which I don't know if I've ever heard of one that does.

Are you trying to say you'd call a stock evo rice? That was the only point I was trying to bring out by that statement. lol

I don't think any stock car can be a ricer, I think it's just a sign of the times really, modern car design and that

Posted by: J.red Feb 24 2011, 10:15 PM

I'm not saying it's rice at all. just saying that it's kind of stupid and useless to have the dual exhaust on that car. A single, slightly larger single outlet would be much more effective.

If anything splitting the exhaust from a single to a double actually hurts performance and mileage. It can send a pressure wave back towards the engine which can cause reversion of exhaust gases.

Posted by: _Kevin_ Feb 24 2011, 10:42 PM

Gentle men, it was a joke lol

I found it on teh webs awhile ago and it's been sitting on my comp for ages.
Some of the marks where for having a car so that it scrapes the ground, etc.. I just took out obvious ones. toung.gif

Posted by: Mkid Feb 24 2011, 10:44 PM

You should change it to "Dual exhaust on car not originally equipped" or something similar. lol

Posted by: Unox. Feb 24 2011, 11:01 PM

scraping is KEWL

Posted by: _Kevin_ Feb 24 2011, 11:01 PM

you can do that lol I just c/p'd it and went with it. we don't need to be super technical lol

Posted by: Ben.H Feb 24 2011, 11:03 PM

But this is PCA, serious s**t

Posted by: Mkid Feb 24 2011, 11:05 PM

Posted by: ChevyRacer454 Feb 25 2011, 04:03 AM

maybe they do dual exhaust for sound pourposes?

Posted by: Madset. Feb 25 2011, 05:48 AM

if i get the honda im looking at, im gonna purposely rice it

this is gonna be my checklist

Posted by: DMC-12 Feb 25 2011, 02:06 PM

or "aftermarket dual exhaust"

Posted by: Mkid Feb 25 2011, 04:49 PM

Most aftermarket Evo exhausts keep the dual set-up so that still wouldn't work.

Posted by: J.red Feb 25 2011, 05:06 PM

real ballers make their own exhaust anyways.

Posted by: Mkid Feb 25 2011, 09:36 PM

I hope your joking. lol

Posted by: Madset. Feb 25 2011, 10:29 PM

Nope. I plan on making my own exhaust system for my civic when I do my swap. The only parts i'm going to buy pre made are the header and the muffler. Everything in between will be fabbed by me.

My camaro has an almost completely home made exhaust. The only thing that is straight from a factory is the mufflers, which I hardly use anyways. The headers weren't made for the car, so they were cut into pieces and reshaped to fit. And between the headers and the mufflers is just 6 feet of straight 3" pipe welded to the mufflers.

Posted by: Mkid Mar 7 2011, 05:39 PM

Strictly performance, you can make some decent stuff yourself. It just usually isn't legal and sounds like crap. sad.gif

Posted by: J.red Mar 7 2011, 06:59 PM

It usually isn't legal because most people that do it aren't doing it for a street car.

The sound thing, a lot of that comes from what muffler you use.

Posted by: Mkid Mar 7 2011, 07:04 PM

Ah yeah, I was talking about the ENTIRE exhaust being home-made. In other words: straight pipes! lol

EDIT:

my car actually sounds ridiculous in a good way with no muffler... but it would just be way too loud for my taste. lol.

That guy is actually selling that custom cat-back

Posted by: J.red Mar 7 2011, 07:21 PM

I wish I had a video of my civic when I had just open headers on it.

Posted by: Madset. Mar 9 2011, 02:32 AM

you should hear the v8 skyline down my road with no headers revving ths s**t out of it

sounds literilly like a super stock

Posted by: J.red Mar 9 2011, 07:15 AM

You can't run a car with no headers. It will destroy the cylinder head.

It must be open headers or zoomie headers.

Posted by: Mkid Mar 9 2011, 03:55 PM

furthermore, why did they put a V8 in a skyline that already had a perfectly capable I6? People know nothing about weight distribution. *facepalm*

Posted by: J.red Mar 9 2011, 07:05 PM

It depends on what the v8 he put in it is. If it's something like an aluminum block ls motor, I don't really see a problem. He'd could easily be getting just as much or more power and higher torque with N/A. And no turbo lag.

Posted by: Carly. Mar 10 2011, 01:12 AM

WHAT IS THIS SH*T? Just put tickets on ricers and stop debating what a ricer is. If you don't think that a dual exhaust is ricey, then don't put tickets on cars with them. Problem solved.

Posted by: Madset. Mar 10 2011, 02:33 AM

i saw a civic today with an old guy driving it, and it had a trd badge on it, i literily loled

and the v8 skylines a r33 gts25t or somthing, and he DID have no headers on it and was driving around like that, hes now got some weld racing rims on it and some thick as tyres, i bet its not legal, lol

Posted by: J.red Mar 10 2011, 04:47 AM

You do know what headers are don't you?
and I'm saying, running an engine without at least headers on it can seriously destroy it.

edit 1: also, is it turbocharged?

edit 2: Bryce, who are you to tell people to stop debating something?

Posted by: Carly. Mar 10 2011, 11:18 AM

Have I had one argument since I came back?

All I have to say is; I was f**king happy when I realized you were gone.

Posted by: Madset. Mar 10 2011, 09:36 PM

he said he was waiting for the exhaust, he might of had headers on i dunno unsure.gif

i think its turboed, but its auto and no blow off sounds coming out, or waste gate, so no it isnt

Posted by: ChevyRacer454 Mar 10 2011, 11:00 PM

welcome back bryce...

Posted by: Carly. Mar 10 2011, 11:22 PM

._. Well thank you. I'm so glad that everyone is welcoming me back with open arms. This is such a loving community, and Daniel doesn't suck.

I'm really only here to follow Mike's and Ivan's cars, anyway.

No, but your mom does. :L

Posted by: Daniel. Mar 11 2011, 02:33 PM

I don't know if my mom sucks my dad, and I don't care either. That's her and my dad's business.

Posted by: Mkid Mar 11 2011, 04:03 PM

Bryce, you came in here with more anger then anyone else. We were having a discussion, you are trying to turn it into an argument with your attitude. So step off.
