Pixel Car Art _ Help and Support _ color change

Posted by: HondaRacR Jan 22 2014, 12:22 AM

Looking for some help changing the color of my buddys integra. Im trying to change it to black to match his so we can do some work to it. Color is about the only thing I flat out suck at. Im using paint just because its always been easy for me, but if someone can help me with a detailed tut in photo shop that would be cool too.

Very cool, this video explains it, but uses a sprite from a video game:

I watched the vid and thought it would work but when I tried it, it didn't. I dont know if I need to get an older version of paint or what. I know I did it the way he did in the vid so idk

what happens when you try ? maybe you didn't select the replacement shade in the correct slot or something. i do not use paint anymore so I sort of forgot how to explain it, there might be another tutorial on here about it, but i am not sure where it is

I followed the video to the T (just different colors) but when I went to erase or cover the old color with the new one it did nothing.

^It works fine on my laptop and desktop, which has Win 7. You would seem to think that the version of paint is the same for all of Win 7.

Try copying the base and pasting it on a blank canvas on a second paint.
Some bases have some sort of block to where you can't exchange the shades with the eraser tool until you move it to another paint program that is opened up.
It's not really Windows 7 paint, its's the base file itself.
I wonder if bases that are created with PS can cause this effect on Paint?

you can also download the older mspaint and try the method in the video again, you can download it here http://www.mspaintxp.com/

or you could try using something like paint.net or gimp, where you only select the area of the car you want to recolor and change hue/saturation/brightness
