Some of you may have seen this thread I made a couple of weeks ago. But if you didn't, my dad's LS400 was for sale, fast forward a bit and it sold. So obviously my dad was then without a car, now this is the 21st century and let's be honest, if you don't have a car, you're bollocksed. So the search was on, criteria was a sensible family car, under 2.0 and not silly money to buy and run (A lot like the Alfa he had before, but then sold, hmm...). Anyway a couple of days later he comes home with this

(IMG:http://i56.tinypic.com/s2qvyv.jpg)
(IMG:http://i52.tinypic.com/ifu42g.jpg)

A 2001 Honda Accord 1.8i VTEC 'Sport' with 11 Months MOT for a very fair £750. Good buy I say, but as we all know some things are always too good to be true, and before we knew it, VTEC kicked in just a little bit too hard...

(IMG:http://i54.tinypic.com/5ozj8k.jpg)

That is of course the car just after being towed home by a friend. The real story is that my dad actually bought the car with a slipping clutch, hence the decent price (Was originally up for £900). He thought he'd get at least a few more days out of it but it decided to f**k itself up on the way home, cue 6,000rpm and no movement. Still, one of them things. So now that's been replaced and it's all very good stuff.

We ordered a little something though...

(IMG:http://i51.tinypic.com/ic1i76.jpg)

Even though it looks like one it really isn't a dildo, or a vibrator for that matter. It is of course an über JDM tight dori dori dorifto sideways S14 AE86 Type-R 2JZ GT-R gear knob. Which means my dad now gets an extra 50bhp and he can drift his FWD car. So we fitted it, as you do.

(IMG:http://i52.tinypic.com/s5lrg7.jpg)
(IMG:http://i51.tinypic.com/23i877l.jpg)

The difference is immense, we beat a gay white and black Toyota with some stupid Japanese writing on it in a drift battle on the way home.

There's a list of jobs that need doing though, tidying it up mainly, you might be able to see the damage to the bumpers in the photos, the previous owner didn't really look after it too much tbh, so we'll get the outside tidied up, some new bumpers may be on the cards. Also, the interior is f**kING DISGUSTING, f**king smells of all sorts of nasty s**t and the seats have some weird stains. So the seats will be replaced ASAFP, my dad wants either the Recaro seats from the Type-R or the leather seats from the Executive trim level. But if I'm sly enough I may be able to get him to look aftermarket (If anyone's selling cheap Bride seats let me know). We may add some nice JDM influenced modifications too. Nothing too OTT, maybe some wind deflectors, a new steering wheel and some minor stickerage. The F18B2 engine isn't bad, not too sure if it's very tuneable, but tbh my dad's not too fussed about getting his hands dirty under the bonnet anyway, he would like some new wheels however and he did seem to like the idea of lowering springs, but we'll have to see how that pans out.

Anyway I've written WAY too much now

Just search on eBay for "JDM Drift Knob", I think it cost us something like £30 with postage and stuff. And it's cool I think, many a time my dad's said "We'll get a project going", but there was never anything that could realistically be done until now

Thank you Alex

I did some quick measurements with my (dad's) trusty tape measure. For this car to be reasonably 'flush' yet practical we should aim to lower it 50mm on some 9 inch wide wheels. My dad likes Rota Grids (Fake Volk TE37s basically, we can't afford real ones). Rota sell them in 15x7 and 15x8 sizes. The standard wheels are 16x8, so we could put on some small spacers to get it sitting pretty.

Nah it doesn't light up Andrew, not that I know of anyway

Uiui, I am sorry that I'm not as JDM tight as you are, I'll try harder in future

@the stigster; Yeah I'm pretty lucky that my dad appreciates nice cars, that said everything has potential so if you can convince them to let you work on it

I'm not going to lie, that shift knob is retarded, especially in a Honda.

It's called "Having a laugh with a cheap car". I don't see what's wrong with Hondas anyway
