really, there's no reason for the evo to have a dual exhaust. It's an inline 4. the only type of 4 cylinder that could have a legit dual exhaust that I can think of would be a N/A subaru with independent headers. which I don't know if I've ever heard of one that does.

I'm not saying it's rice at all. just saying that it's kind of stupid and useless to have the dual exhaust on that car. A single, slightly larger single outlet would be much more effective.
If anything splitting the exhaust from a single to a double actually hurts performance and mileage. It can send a pressure wave back towards the engine which can cause reversion of exhaust gases. |

Gentle men, it was a joke lol
I found it on teh webs awhile ago and it's been sitting on my comp for ages. Some of the marks where for having a car so that it scrapes the ground, etc.. I just took out obvious ones. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toung.gif) |

Most aftermarket Evo exhausts keep the dual set-up so that still wouldn't work.

I hope your joking. lol Nope. I plan on making my own exhaust system for my civic when I do my swap. The only parts i'm going to buy pre made are the header and the muffler. Everything in between will be fabbed by me. My camaro has an almost completely home made exhaust. The only thing that is straight from a factory is the mufflers, which I hardly use anyways. The headers weren't made for the car, so they were cut into pieces and reshaped to fit. And between the headers and the mufflers is just 6 feet of straight 3" pipe welded to the mufflers. |

Strictly performance, you can make some decent stuff yourself. It just usually isn't legal and sounds like crap. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

It usually isn't legal because most people that do it aren't doing it for a street car.
The sound thing, a lot of that comes from what muffler you use. |

Ah yeah, I was talking about the ENTIRE exhaust being home-made. In other words: straight pipes! lol
EDIT: my car actually sounds ridiculous in a good way with no muffler... but it would just be way too loud for my taste. lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NyG2mWOIxM That guy is actually selling that custom cat-back |

You can't run a car with no headers. It will destroy the cylinder head.
It must be open headers or zoomie headers. |

furthermore, why did they put a V8 in a skyline that already had a perfectly capable I6? People know nothing about weight distribution. *facepalm*

It depends on what the v8 he put in it is. If it's something like an aluminum block ls motor, I don't really see a problem. He'd could easily be getting just as much or more power and higher torque with N/A. And no turbo lag.

WHAT IS THIS SH*T? Just put tickets on ricers and stop debating what a ricer is. If you don't think that a dual exhaust is ricey, then don't put tickets on cars with them. Problem solved.

You do know what headers are don't you? and I'm saying, running an engine without at least headers on it can seriously destroy it. edit 1: also, is it turbocharged? edit 2: Bryce, who are you to tell people to stop debating something? This post has been edited by J.red: Mar 10 2011, 04:50 AM |
