...bought an Lancer Evo
(IMG:http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/9297/img0680ub.th.jpg) (IMG:http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/2791/img0683p.th.jpg) (IMG:http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/2867/img0682o.th.jpg) (IMG:http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/2988/img0681zj.th.jpg) It's a lovely Evolution 5 finished in 'Satellite Silver', it's covered only 57,000 miles and cost my dad £5,995 ($9,530~). The best bit is that it's already got a few modifications, namely Tein Adjustable Coilovers worth like £2,500, a HKS induction kit and an aftermarket exhaust which I don't know what make it is, maybe HKS. He gets to pick it up the weekend after this next one (16th/17th Oct). Expect many photos of this and Ed's dad's Legacy. Excited isn't the word. |

Eh, sort of a midlife crisis car. My parents got divorced and now he can't afford to keep the Citroen, so he bought this outright so he doesn't have to worry about payments, only running costs.

Sweet! What are the specs on it? I heard my car is basically just as good as an older EVO so maybe we can roll together (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toothygrin.gif)

Sweet! What are the specs on it? I heard my car is basically just as good as an older EVO so maybe we can roll together (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toothygrin.gif) Sources vary but it's around 280bhp/276ft-lb from what I can see. As for performance, sources also vary. I'd hazard a sensible guess at just under 5 seconds (Although some sources reckon it's as low as 4.5! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sadeyes1.gif) ) Top speed I'd imagine is around 140mph. Other cool parts it has are Brembo brakes, Recaro bucket seats and a Momo steering wheel. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toothygrin.gif) Also cheers nizmo_bro (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile2.gif) |

Yeah... looking back I'm not sure why I asked that. lol
my 0-60 is 6 seconds, 5 seconds with rollout/brake launch (horrible for your tranny, but kills turbo lag) If what you said is right, I'm not sure why people said my car is as good as an old evo... maybe they meant the USDM ones (IMG:style_emoticons/default/toung.gif) I don't think we got that model evo here. not sure if the ones after are any different. |

Well, as some of you may have remembered (You probably didn't), we were supposed to be picking up the car today. Sadly this didn't happen as Lloyds TSB are dreadful and lost both of my dad's card applications. That said we did still go test drive it, and I got more photos.

Something that did make me laugh though was the sheer amount of Japanese cars on the road in that area. I mean I knew the Black Country had a load of modified cars. But Jesus, we saw another 3 Evos within 5 minutes Oh yeah and they had this Nissan Pao, never seen one of these outside of GT4 before. cool. I love Lloyd TSB's ad remixed with dubstep.
Also, I was driving behind an Evo 10, on the way to my uncle's who has a Ford Falcon Ba, with over 400hp, Garrett turbo. and my uncle also came over with his fully sick Celica, it's turbocharged, along with the full engine swap.. and he just bought a $75k HSV senator Series 2 Signiture. My uncles are rich, my family is not. Good luck joyriding. This post has been edited by DLuZive: Oct 16 2010, 11:33 AM |

Evo Xs are pretty sick, we saw an Evo VI, and Evo VIII, and a IX. We also saw 2 MR2s, a Pulsar GTi-R and a Supra.
The garage itself was pretty sick. Look... Yo, Ben, Recognise that Imp? 1.8 VVTi mid-mounted lump, 6-point integral steel roll cage, completely custom front steering gemoetry, and a MR-2 style rear link up to suspension, it's less than 700kg and puts out around 250~bhp, it's biblically quick. |

So I went fishing through the boot and I found something cool
(IMG:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1072/5126088633_caa043774f_z.jpg) (IMG:http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4144/5126088899_11e377a1c7_z.jpg) The box for the Turbo Timer/Boost Controller. Inside it I found... (IMG:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1171/5126089219_da5f2e2a33_z.jpg) Instruction manuals for the aforementioned Turbo Timer/Boost Controller and the Boost Gauge, which we now know is also made by GReddy/Trust too. (IMG:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1330/5126694778_97f9c6220f_z.jpg) (IMG:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1406/5126090755_31fcfff50f_z.jpg) What interested me most though was this... (IMG:http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/5126088439_b2e8399227_z.jpg) It appears that there is an aftermarket HKS F-Con SZ ECU installed as well, pretty cool. It seems some serious money has been spent on this car in Japan, so far the mod list is as follows; - Tein Adjustable Coilovers - HKS F-Con SZ ECU - GReddy Profec B-Spec II - GReddy Boost Gauge - Aftermarket Exhaust and Air Filter (Unknown manufacturer) Me and my dad plan to get the wheels refurbed and repainted soon too, as there's a bit of kerb rash on one. Any colour ideas? Nothing stupid like orange or green, that s**t looks gay, and my dad's nearly 50. This post has been edited by Ben.H: Oct 29 2010, 07:06 PM |

lol so I was just looking at some replacement O.Z Racing centre caps because the current ones are f**ked, to put it lightly...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OZ-Racing-Centre-Cap...8#ht_500wt_1156 How much? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MITSUBISHI-ALLOY-WHE...01#ht_739wt_905 Much better. Also, does anyone have any experience with painting brake calipers? It's just occured to me that the once red Brembo brakes are now a nasty faded pink, not good This post has been edited by Ben.H: Oct 31 2010, 02:19 PM |

You could just buy blank centercaps and get centercap stickers or just put centercap stickes on the stock ones if they are flat. I was going to do that for my civic when I bought Acura wheels (that ended up not fitting). They were enkei made wheels so I bought enkei stickers to put over the Acura stuff. I ended up just selling them along with the wheels though.

I'd probably go with something simple and painted white.
something like this: (IMG:http://76.my/UserImages/Items/0611/10/KayuTrade@14.jpg) (IMG:http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2491/4168085702_6c5bbe076b.jpg) (IMG:http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/107978234/1998_Japanese_cars_MITSUBISHI_LANCER_EVO_5.jpg) Although the ones he has now look almost as good. |

I only chose them because the car is white. I think white wheels looks good on that car if its white. I think it gives it that classic rally look. Show the pics I posted to your dad.

Isn't the car silver? not white. IMO, white wheels don't really go well with a silver car. I would stick with a darker color. Gunmetal or bronze.

Gunmetal and bronze would both look good, I just thought they'd be a bit played out though. But I suppose the design of the wheel itself matters most anyway, I like those wheels Mike, but I prefer "fatter" spokes, know what I mean? I guess it's up to my dad at the end of the day anyway.
Just bought these: (IMG:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1329/5143660176_ffd14a3b32_z.jpg) (IMG:http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1407/5143660370_641e25156a_z.jpg) Decent sound quality, here we come! I think the spoiler gives it its evo-ness, without it, it just looks like a mitsubishi mirage with a bodykit.

Mirage with a bodykit, lol. Over here that would be a hatchback with an Evo Kit. Unless you mean Lancer with evo kit, which I've seen which are ugly. And Evos are Bigger! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shifty.gif)
I like the spoiler. NZ knows what to do with Mirages. (IMG:http://www.performancecar.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/Mitsubishi-Mirage.jpeg) This post has been edited by DLuZive: Nov 5 2010, 08:51 AM |

In america, all that generation of lancers/mirages were just called mirages. The name Lancer is fairly new in america.

You find me a decent, cheap spoiler for an Evo V or VI that is easily available in the UK, and isn't an Evo VI spoiler, and also, isn't one of the huge adjustable ones like you see on drift cars.
Speakers in tomorrow, if all goes well |

I think a CF one would look cool, but it doesn't have to be huge.
(IMG:http://ll.speedhunters.com/u/f/eagames/NFS/speedhunters.com/Images/Jacco%20Willemsen/Random%20Shots/dsc_1354672.jpg) something like that, but smaller would be cool imo. It would help too cuz its for sure a lot lighter, so not rice |

Yeah they look cool on something like that time attack Evo, but that's got a full wide body kit to match. I've seen spoilers like that on cars such as Imprezas and it's not a good look if you haven't got a body kit to match, believe me
However thank you very much for suggesting them cos I came across this website while I was looking for photos and it looks really good |

@Kubason, I was actually looking for a carbon centre blade, couldn't find one though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:http://sierracompositesblog.com/wp-content/images/3m-di-noc.jpg) I'm probably gonna be using that on my B pillars and little areas as accents. You could use that on the blade. |

Super late reply but I believe that was in USD
Maybe I should actually update this thread. Oh well, my dad said he plans to start spending money on this car in the new year, my dad got laid off though so don't expect super uber cool expensive awesome modifications. Matter of fact the only major modification he'd do would be to install a 6-Speed gearbox from a later Evo, and that's only because having a short ratio 5-speed gearbox on the motorway is really s**tty, noisy and expensive. Suggestions please Also lol, I never knew how many rip-off Evo V bumpers you could buy for different cars (IMG:http://www.yourhotcar.com/productImages_thumbBIG/123905978532091010.jpg) (IMG:http://images.extremedimensions.com/ExtImages/94_mustangevo5complete.jpg) (IMG:http://images.extremedimensions.com/ExtImages/04_sentraevo5complete.jpg) My personal favourite...
