Why did PPK let his car get into that state?

He's broke, but he acts like he did it on purpose, so everyone, in all of sudden, thinks it's cool.

No, it never looked good. A 280z isn't supposed to be raped like that, 240z' are supposed to be restored. There is nothing more beautiful than a 280z which looks like it just got off the factory.

You people hating hardkore on Ian's car...

It's like that because he was hit by someone with their headlights off at an intersection in the middle of the night. Insurance didn't cover it, so he was left SOL. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to have that much damage repaired?
(IMG:http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/5724/1000880y.jpg)
(IMG:http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1503/1000887qn.jpg)
The repair bill on that was $1700. And that's not nearly as extensive as the damage on Ian's rear fender. And insurance covered mine because it happened while my car was parked in a parking lot. And on my car that cost was for getting a new hood from Honda that cost $400. The rest of the cost was paint and labor for repairing the bumper and painting the hood and bumper. on an older car like ian's it's probably a lot harder to find replacement parts like that for it. So reforming that fender would be even more expensive because you're talking major labor costs and on a car that old, the whole car would likely have to be repainted to get the fender to match again because of fading. Luckily on my car I had just repainted it the year before, so matching the paint was easy.

As far as his stance goes. Some people prefer to be less than an inch off the ground, others(myself included) prefer to have something that will take corners at high speeds. He wants it to be low and he knows it won't handle. He's not out there to try to race through corners. He just drives it. Not to mention to set up a custom suspension like that takes some skill. And I give him props for that.

But J.red, it's not just Ian's car, there's loaaaaaaaaads of people with 'stanced' cars who think it's cool to have a car that looks like s**t (Fake rust I'm looking at you). Besides didn't Ian buy some rims anyway?

Yes, but in Ian's case, he didn't intentionally damage it. It was a legit accident and he hasn't been able to fix completely.
Some other people have legit damage and such to their car that they leave whether it be because they can't afford to fix it or they don't want to because it's a cool story.
But the people that intentionally damage their cars or intentionally rust them to add "character" That is just retarded. I agree.

Just for the record, I never mentioned anything about his dent being the reason I dislike him or his car.

Function + Form = win

Look at that Z I posted above, it still has a nice stance and nice fitment (even if it is a little tucked), its just not ridiculous in either way and is still beast enough to take a turn that hard.

damage does ad character (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) If i ever find a picture of it i'll show you guys my dad's old truck. I don't think you can get much more character then that thing had.

I did a pixelcar of it. but it was far more beat up then this
(IMG:http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b260/infurnoASH/pixel%20cars/RustbucketRemake.png)

it was customized by the first owner, neglected, worn out and beat up and rusted to pieces. then frankenstined back to life at least twice. covered in mud, was never actualy washed, cracked up windows and faded paint. that truck was a wreck on wheels. but its frame was still strong, and the engine was built up to 1970 Corvette Spec that egine put out about 400 hp, and the truck had full time 4x4. It did finaly die though... but that engine still lives on!

heck If I had that truck today I would not be ashamed to drive it around.

Not when people intentionally do the damage themselves. There's a difference between that and damage from say an accident or something that happened to the car. It only adds character when there's an actual story behind how it got there. other than "oh I used a baseball bat" or "i just stripped all the paint off it and set it under a sprinkler"

And i've never had Ian brag about his car to me. When I talk with him, he talks to me about the technical stuff about it. Like what he's fixed on it or what he's modified recently. He's never like "omg i'm so low. You not. You jelly?" He actually talks about cars in a knowledgeable way.

I think he picks and chooses who he is going to troll on to be honest, I was just one of the unfortunate ones he didn't like? I don't know. When I had my Civic, whenever I told him what I planned to do to it, he would tell me why I was wrong and why I should make my car more like his and was very c**ky about it. I would tell him that I didn't want to go that style. And then he would say something stupid like my opinion was invalid. So eventually I told him to eff off and stopped talking to him. Then he started treating most everyone else on PCA in that same way and he had a lot of people complaining about him, so I did away with him.
