Pixel Car Art _ Automotive chat _ Perry the Fiesta does his bit for charity

Posted by: Curtis Jan 31 2011, 06:29 PM

As some of you on Facebook may have noticed, i've started raising money for Cancer Research UK, by allowwing people to sign my car for a minimum of £1 donation. In two days, i've already made over £30 from about twelve people, some of which donating more than £5.

If you would like to contribute, please send any donation via paypal to curtisrosselliott@gmail.com, and i get your name on the car smile2.gif

Thank-you to all that get involved, and I hope to see some good donations.

Also, for anyone interested, my facebook will be constantly updated with photos and info about the car, Search for Curtis Ross Elliott

I would like to be famous, so what's your name on facebook laugh.gif

Posted by: Ben.H Jan 31 2011, 09:33 PM

March 5th I will tag this s**t up

Posted by: Carly. Jan 31 2011, 09:44 PM

When I get my MR2, I was planning on letting people use paint pens on the wing just because. But maybe I'll do something like this, because that would be awesome.

Also, I'm not sure what the transfer rate is right now, but I'll probably do $5USD or something once I get the chance. smile2.gif

Like this s**t, but life-saving:

Posted by: Curtis Jan 31 2011, 09:57 PM

Kuba, i've edited my first post
Ben, f**k yeah!
Bryce, yeah thats pretty much the original idea i had with chalk, but a) chalk would run in the rain, and cool2.gif getting one silver pen is a helluva lot cheaper than a full set of colours, esp. for a student

Posted by: Carly. Jan 31 2011, 10:04 PM

Definitely, but I still think it's worth it. Especially in America, people are cheapskates, and if it's not fun enough, they won't bother to participate.

Posted by: _Kevin_ Jan 31 2011, 10:45 PM

I have no cash but it's noble cause and I would love to help sad.gif smile2.gif

Posted by: Carly. Jan 31 2011, 10:47 PM

You don't need to help by donating to him. You could set out and do something like this yourself. But either way, it's the thought that counts. smile2.gif Sort of....

Posted by: Curtis Feb 2 2011, 01:50 PM

However donating is easier xd.gif Any more interest? please

Posted by: DMC-12 Feb 2 2011, 03:17 PM

March 5th. I'm there ;D

Posted by: Curtis Feb 3 2011, 02:09 AM

quick update, i have just had an e-mail from my local paper, hoping to do a photoshoot in the near future, so that should increase the publicity ten fold. Also, i will be attended FITP, hopefully on display there, so if anyone wants to donate there rather than via paypal, that would be awesome!

Also, for those of you on facebook, search for Perry the Fiesta does his bit for charity, and you should find a facebook group with a constant feed on how he's doing, how much money we've raised, etc.

Cheers everyone for your support smile2.gif

Have you contacted Jalopnik about this? They seem to like heartwarming stories, and this one would fit right in.

Posted by: Helmasaur King Feb 3 2011, 02:32 AM

Very cool, this is a cool idea , it is good to hear it might become something more popular. I think you should keep going , maybe do another thing like it with food

Some bastards broke into the car last night. Got in, the door was open, but the alarm must've gone off as the left with nothing.

Posted by: DMC-12 Feb 22 2011, 12:43 PM

Damn early 90s ford "security" sad.gif

Posted by: Curtis Feb 23 2011, 02:07 AM

got a bit more back story now. In the lock-up where the car is kept, is a lot more expensive equipment, including a Snap-On trade van, which was the thieves target. 6 figures worth of stuff was nicked, and the thieved hotwired a motorhome that was also in the lockup to kart the loot out of there. It can only be assumed that they tried to use my car as a getaway vehicle, but got into the motorhome first. Although for some reason, they removed all of the wiring from the battery as well as ripping the alarm speaker box out, presumably to shut it up. I found this out after trying to pick up the missus, and the car wouldn't start.

Basically i got off pretty lightly by comparison. A few new locks and possibly an alarm.

never ending story...

Perry's dead. Had a heart attack on the motorway last night. i was on the side of the road from 10:45 till about half 2.

Hopefully should be able to source a new engine (possibly a 1.3) for under £150

Posted by: DMC-12 Mar 5 2011, 07:26 PM

You will do, If I'm not mistaken this should fit?

Posted by: Curtis Mar 7 2011, 06:03 PM

if we even go through with it, may even end up trying to repair it. we don't know the extent of the damage yet :/

Posted by: Mkid Mar 7 2011, 06:06 PM

dude, if you can get a better, newer motor for under 150 then just do it like Nike!

Think about it, thats like the price of 3 or 4 new video games.

chris, did i ever tell you i wished my hair could get that straight? <3

NO HOMO!

Anyway, i've been talking to my grandad, he is still pretty sceptical, would rather get a good look at the engine to see if we can work with it, before we throw a load of cash at the car

Posted by: DMC-12 Mar 7 2011, 09:26 PM

You mean you'd even consider replacing it without taking a peek first? toung.gif

Posted by: J.red Mar 8 2011, 06:39 AM

All the gunk away now, and a new lock fitted. Bit rough, but at least i can secure the car now.

All red rear lights, look a bit orange in this shot still, may give them another light coat...
