This will be my rides thread for my sigma and r31.

Here is the R31. its a POS and i love it!. its been 2 days since i picked it up.








Engine is the main area of concern, as well as the brakes. The peddle is very spoungy and the lights on, so they might just not work soon . Also need to put the alternator and water pump belt back on. I flushed the radiator this afternoon, but still dirty . The joys of owning R31's . Will take pics of sigma tommorrow.

In concern to the rear lights, it would seem one of your switch has bent connections, check them all, if they are broken, bent or damaged, replace them. As for the pedal, bleed the brakes once to remove all old brake fluid, work them as you normally would to run all of the air out of the lines, then re-bleed and fill them. If this hasn't solved your problem, look at your braking master cylinder, and then the brake lines themselves, as they might've split, burst, or likewise.

Thats what the previous owner said. MY ASS. I went for a quick drive and instantly found out that its not the gearbox but the clutch is making the noise. Did a quick search and its a case of a bad imput shaft bearing. Great .

Tis already got Pacemaker extractors and a 2.25in() system, with one muffler, and i have a feeling that the cat is hollow . Im going to fit my cannnon onto it soon, make it sound alot better and it give it a deeper idle sound. As for lowering it, i would like to, but it already hits evertyhing! Spose it doesnt help that the suspension is original, and it handles like a boat. Now i really should go do that fan belt...

lol im not worried about the ricer effect. the cars meant to be a joke lol. Should have seen the pulsar, my god. The cannon is also good for quietning it down a bit cause right now its pretty loud.
Still cannot do the fan belt. the clamps be screwed, gotta cut em off and put new ones on, but i dont have any new ones, so another day wasted, will put up pics of the garnish soonish.

lol Updating time! no pics, but i managed to get that bastard radiator out. I had to remove the fan which wasnt really neccisary but a bolt had seized pretty hard on the shroud. The water in the car is as expected, poo brown.
Today i also refitted the rear garnish back on, looks much better but S3 lights and S2 grill/chrome strip look bad .
And another interesting fact is where the car is parked it really shows how much camber is has, ALOT

Edit: Oh and PPK i would love to clean the engine bay, but i really cannot . The guy, as i said before, has no idea about cars and mechanical so its rusty and the wiring is exposed and RB30's dont like water in the wrong places, but i will def hav a go at it. The exhaust side of the block is flooded with oil, so potential fire hazard there.

ok im not going to modify it. Its a bush basher, as in a thing i thrash around in a paddock, its full of rust, my gearbox makes the nasiest noise and it has ricy neons. Not a show car!

Its not going to be a show car, its not going to be a street car, my entire front end is rust ok, its everywhere! unstopable! and its really not worth it. Will post pics of the caked on oil and inside my cooling system looks like

well, send it to this part of the world, caus i have seen many R32's, R33's, R34's, and a handfull of GT-R's have been spotted here, but i haven't seen a single R31 here...

yeah bud, I was in my grandma's R31 and the engine was revving like CRAZY bud, you must get a pink/blue decal though, in a lightning effect, it'll look so cpime.

dude here in canberra there are r33 everywhere like i mean everywhere, then theres the r31 which are everywhere but not quite as many as r33's, then the r32's and r34's are about on par you prolly see about 1-3 or each a day. then gt-r's i see one of them a day pretty much.

my vote is canberra are skyline lovers

Been messing around with my intake piping just for fun. Also this way it will make it easier to make a heat shield for it.

i was angry, btw never drive when pissed off, 2nd gear, tail out, couldnt control, braked, and braced, hit the fence, put a sleeper through my sump. Its a sad day

peice of wood. ie a railway sleeper in my sump. I doubt its fixable, the car was running(obviously) when i hit the wood and its penitrated the sump very deep so most likely damage to the crankshaft. I feel like a f**king twat right now. Oh well.
I could put another engine in it but the entire front is f**ked and i dont kno if it stuffed my powersteering rack. I dont even kno where my front swaybar is anymore! My best bet is to buy another car, put the manual in if its auto, fix the kit and sell the car for a couple hundred bucks. I already have an offer from a guy on 31 club.

Carhartt: do not worry about the car, it wasnt a beautiful r31, it is actually quiet a bucket. As for the other part idk what you mean by governmental control. My brakes work fine.

in germany i don't know if there is any R31! We only have imported R32, R33, R34 and they are f**king expensive...

here in germany we need to go to a special service every 2 years, there is a guy who checks everything which is needed like breaks, lights, and so on. if you get a new bodykit or a new exhaust you need to go there, then the guy checks if everything is as the rules say

i ask, because if nobody cares how the engine looks, or if things were fixed by a professional mechanic, you can fix it with your knowledge and continue driving

today in technical drafting we did a "pimp my ride" thing where we sketched cars and then tomorrow we'll tune 'em. i chose a white r31 2 door, maybe i'll make it into a tribute.

The mechanic is coming over sometime to have a look. My radiator is f**ked, the aircon radiator is bent(dangerous?), front swaybar somehow survived and the sump? see for yourself

lol oil pans nor radiators are really all that hard to replace... and the AC? just cut the lince, vent the R12 to the atmosphere, and take it all out

you're probably going to need a new oil pickup tube, as well...

so basically i have to take my front swaybar out, undo the engine mounts, jack up the engine, take of the sump and thats it dont know about my radiator and upper and lower support issue cause thats really farked down there. just gotta take out the rest of the air con.

and you said the car was still running after you ran the sleeper over? i had a camry wagon that i put over the top of a keep left sign, and tore pretty much all the plate that was under the driver's side right back to the back seats out. then 3 months later went through a log fence at 80/h and the car was still running. the front would never ever be straight again but the car ran lol.

na the radiator stopped the fan and broke the lip off the crank pulley, so that is what probably stopped the motor. After i had a good look with the sump off everything is fine and dandy. My dad helped me bash the front end out and we got the radiator to fit in and the front tension mount is back to... sorta normal. Im going out now to fit the swaybar. I'll putting the radiator back in after i get another engine mount. I broke one lifting the engine

R31 = bucket. But i just had to own one

Sigma has been in my family since before i was even born, i grew up in it and its now mine. And theres nothing wrong with it, it just needs a new paint job and a re-wires engine bay. Dodgy Japanese wiring

got some water in it but it has a bad plug or something so its shaking like crazy which means i cannot fully bleed the cooling system or drive it yet.

Update.

Skyline
Gave in and beld the cooling system while one cyclinder wasnt firing. My pod filter was shaking around like crazy. As expected it went brown after the thermostat opened so another flush is due in say... a week? Also i went over the inside with the air compressor to get dust and glass out.

You have no idea how bad this thing is until you see it in person. I would run out of memory on the camera showing you the problems. Plus the front end damage and rust it can never be registered again. Believe it or not it will have a better life with me than anybody else that has owned it.

Just gave it its first hose down since i bought it. Mud everywhere Will move onto the interior again some time, so much dust! Also dicovered there is a leak in the air system and its letting water inside the passanger footwell and there is that hole in the boot gutter that needs some fixing

To be honest it didnt come up too bad!








Note that I haven't used soap or the pressure cleaner yet. I have to get my inner door seals on first And while im at it ill paint my door frames black.

Not a car Just finsihed painting my computer caseing black.

I prepped with wax/grease remover
dried
painted each individually
heat dried them with a heater() until you could just touch them without burning
Layed them down
when they were all done
made a fort/oven thing
baked for 15minutes
and im letting them cool atm

UPDATE

R31 is running. My awesome as f**k grandfather bought me some fuel. almost a quarter tank O_O
I also drove it down the road cause i had to take my mum to our neighbour. Never again. THe crash has completely f**k the front end up and it wonders all over the place, and that was in 2nd gear at about 40kph!

started to fluch the radiator this morning, left the battery connected, water go onto an exposed relay that goes to the starter motor, sparks and smoke(steam) everywhere. wont crank now. gotta get another relay :/ Damn r31!!

Well i have done this many times before and yes where the plastic touches the metal fitting it not so much melts it gets soft and gets mangled a bit. As for the rest of the system it just gets hard and brittle over time. Takes a far bashing to break it but once it does it does. That how i broke my last cannon


Guys! as for boso pipe. No. Unfortunalty, I have no pipes or bends left anywhere!! I probably used them all when i had the pulsar. The pipes i used yesterday were just some random bits layig around which im pretty sure my parents need them for something. But dont worry, the real metal(stainless) cannon muffler is going on Monday.

hmm. nothing much. Gave it a clean inside, removed the ECU to clean up all the rust flakes n s**t there. I need to make a cover to protect it for water now because the windsheild gutter has completly rusted through. I took off the left hand side chrome striping and gave it a clean. Atm i am trying to get my boot release to work again.

UPDATORZ TIEM

Well i was messing round with the interior and i noticed on the steering collum was a little led that is spose to iluminate the key hole and it was pushed it, so i took off the collum cover and then the plate thats bellow that. What did i find? a f**king mess of wires and boxes n s**t. What the hell was this? i soon found out it was the aftermarket keyless entry the owner had put in, oh but theres more! its also an alarm and an imobiliser. It was all disconnected so i f**ked around for a couple hours, removed and cleaned up the area as well as fixing the led.

Still need to find a new home for the ECU. Its camping out in the passanger foot well
Alsomight try and fix the drivers seat adjustments. Moving the seat takes heaps of effort and it doesnt want to release very easily.

there is this red sand in the c**kpit (in the ventilation, on the desk, at the wheel), i asked because i wanted to know if you get dust blown into your face while driving, or if it is easy to clean

Carhartt- Take a picture of literally anything and use flash. It will look that dirty unless it's wet.
